Charles W. "Charlie" Williams, 75, of Punta Gorda, FL passed away October 3, 2012. He was the son of George W. and B. Marguerite (Shanabarger) Williams, born October 16, 1936 in Philippi, WV. Charlie attended West Virginia University prior to entering the military. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany in the late 1950's. He was a Senior Computer Analyst for the Washington, D.C. City Government, retiring after 34 years of service. Charlie played minor league baseball, and enjoyed all types of sports. Charlie also sang bass in a barbershop quartet as a member of the Mid-Atlantic District of the Barbershop Harmony Society. He moved to Punta Gorda from Fairfax, VA, in 1995 and loved the sunshine as well as living in Florida. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and grandchildren. Charlie will be greatly missed by his wife of 24 years, Kay; sister, Leah Williams; daughters, Leah (Charles) Stipancic, Amy (Michael) Fitzgerald, and Barbara (Michael) Cross; step-sons, William (Dana) Schools, Jr., and Daniel Schools; grandchildren, Tyler, William, Brady, Madison, Joseph, Tristen, Alexis, and Chase; and a host of golfing and other friends. A memorial service will be 5:00pm on Friday, October 12, 2012 at Port Charlotte United Methodist Church.
