Charlotte Freeman Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 29, 2025.
Charlotte Louise Freeman, of Boca Raton, Florida, formerly of Delray Beach, Florida, and Long Island, New York, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2025, at the age of 92.

Born on September 14, 1932, in Swampscott, Massachusetts, Charlotte was the daughter of Ruth and Joseph Finger, who predeceased her. She was a devoted wife, mother, stepmother, grandmother and sister who was deeply loved by her family.

Charlotte earned a Master's Degree in English from Adelphi University and devoted her professional life to education. She spent many years as a high school English teacher in Plainview, New York, where she inspired countless students with her passion for literature, language, and learning. She was known for her dedication, intellect, and her belief in the power of education to transform lives.

After retiring, Charlotte and her beloved husband Edwin ("Ed") Freeman relocated to Delray Beach, where they embraced an active and fulfilling life. Charlotte was an avid golfer, a frequent theatergoer, and a lover of spirited conversation. She and Ed shared a deep curiosity about the world and were adventurous travelers, enjoying many exotic trips-especially two unforgettable cruises taken with their extended family, which brought her immense joy. Charlotte also had a sharp wit and a deep appreciation for clever humor, which she shared freely with those around her.

A woman of style and precision, Charlotte took great pride in decorating each of her homes with her own distinct and impeccable taste. She loved spending time with family, and above all, cherished every moment with her grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Marvin Gordon, and her second husband, Edwin Freeman, with whom she shared 29 years of devotion.

Charlotte is survived by her loving children, Debra Gordon (Mike Langberg) and Gary Gordon (fiancée Donna Sherman); and by her stepchildren, Judith Freeman (John Mason), Kenneth Freeman (Maryellen), Carole Annenberg (widow of David), and Janet Mayo (Arthur Jr.).

She was the proud and devoted grandmother of Tara, Matthew, and Kayla Freeman; William and Valerie Mayo; and Sara Wylder. Charlotte was also the beloved sister of Richard Finger.
