Charlotte Koretz Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 26, 2014.
Charlotte Cecilia Koretz, formerly of North Fulton Street, Wilkes-Barre, passed away peacefully at her daughter's home on Monday, Nov. 24, 2014.

Born April 24, 1930 in Mocanaqua, she was the daughter of the late Felix and Julia Faszczewski Bloch. Charlotte was a 1948 graduate of Marymount High School.

Charlotte was a loving, caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who committed her life to raising her eight children and making her grandchildren and great-grandchild feel special. She worked hard as a homemaker and later as a bookkeeper, cleaning woman, and laundress.

She was a member of Our Lady of Hope Parish, Wilkes-Barre, formerly St. Mary's Church of the Maternity. She was a woman of great faith, who devoutly prayed to the Blessed Mother, and always put others before herself.

"Tess" immensely enjoyed playing cards, especially pinochle and rummy, with her family. She was an expert at checking and rechecking everyone's scores. She lived life to the fullest by tasting Mare and Ed's delectable daily cuisine, bird watching, casino jaunts, scratching off lottery tickets, reading romance novels and sharing stories.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Koretz Sr., in 1991; her sisters, Janet Faszczewski, Mary Krupper and Jean Faszczewski, all of Bristol, N.Y.; and Stella (Essie) Stevens of Milford, Conn.; two brothers; and son-in-law, Dr. Stanley T. Bohinski.

Surviving are her children, Marianne Pietroski and husband, Edward, Mountain Top; Barbara Bohinski, Wilkes-Barre Township; Lorraine Koretz, Maricopa, Ariz.; Rosemarie Hughes and husband, Howard, Shickshinny; Charlene Koretz and husband, Paul Coleman, Chalfont; Andrea Koretz, Mechanicsburg; Larry Koretz Jr., Wyoming; and David Koretz and wife, Promise, Bear Creek; grandchildren, Chesla Ann Bohinski and fiancé, Tony Lenkaitis, Wyoming; Edward Pietroski Jr. and wife, Shannon, Laporte; Matthew Pietroski and Cari Morris, White Haven; Meredith Baron and husband, Dave, Mountain Top; Timothy Blaise Bohinski and fiancée, Selena Brancifort, Mantua, N.J.; Christopher James Bohinski, Union City, N.J.; Sienna Coleman, Chalfont; Kasey and Kara Smith, Mechanicsburg; Jacob Koretz, Wyoming; Sawyer and Dacyn Koretz, Bear Creek; A.J. Lenkaitis, Wyoming; and Layla Morris, White Haven; and great-granddaughter, Andzia Pietroski, Laporte.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday from Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Hope Parish, 40 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre. The Rev. John S. Terry, pastor, will be the celebrant.

Interment will be in St. Mary's Maternity Cemetery, West Wyoming.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
