Charlotte Leavitt Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 15, 2025.
Charlotte A. Leavitt, 79, beloved wife, mom, Nana, and friend, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on July 11, 2025, at Sanfield Nursing Home.

Born on July 15, 1945, Charlotte was the daughter of the late Clifton and Freida (Elston) Chase. She married her husband, Clint, on November 6, 1965, and together they proudly raised their two children, Greg and Melissa.

Charlotte embraced life with joy and enthusiasm, cherishing every moment spent with her beloved family and close friends-Pam, Donna, Linda, Barb, and Nancy. Family meant everything to Charlotte, and she considered her children and grandchildren her greatest accomplishment. A lifelong fan of live music, she especially enjoyed concerts by the band Alabama and local favorite Ray Stafford. Over the years, she and Clint created lasting memories camping with friends throughout New England. A proud lifelong resident of Dexter, Charlotte was deeply committed to her community and found great joy in giving back as a dedicated member of the Sunshine Club.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Clinton Leavitt; two children: Greg Leavitt and wife Sandy of Glenburn, Melissa Loiselle and husband Dan of Scarborough; three grandchildren, Emily Leavitt, Abbie Wood, and Griffin Wood; sister Charlene Burke, brothers Edward Chase, and Dwayne Chase. She was predeceased by her parents, Clifton and Freida Chase, and in-laws, Ralph Leavitt and Mona Copeland.

Charlotte leaves behind her family and friends who will remember her wonderful sense of humor and zest for life. Her legacy of love and laughter will forever be cherished by all who knew her.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to her personal caregiver, Becca, as well as the staff at Sanfield Nursing Home and Northern Light Hospice for their loving care, comfort, and support during her final days. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no visiting hours or funeral service. A private burial will take place at a later date at the VA Cemetery in Augusta. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Sunshine Club of Dexter or the Alzheimer's Association of Maine.
