Charlotte Whetsel Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 22, 2025.
Charlotte Mae Hill Whetsel, 91, of Wheat Ridge, Colorado, passed away peacefully under hospice care on May 28, 2025.

Born in Denver to Homer and Helen Hill-owners of the Homer Hill Greenhouse-Charlotte grew up deeply rooted in the community she loved. After graduating high school, she married David New and had four children: Micheal, Linda, Stephen (deceased), and Timothy (deceased).

In 1963, Charlotte married Don Whetsel, her lifelong partner of 58 years. Together they lived in South Dakota before returning to Colorado, where Don worked at the Davis Angus Ranch and Charlotte dedicated herself to the Wheat Ridge Historical Society. She completed all her school years in Wheat Ridge and proudly celebrated its rich heritage.

Known for her humor, kindness, and adventurous spirit, Charlotte embraced nearly everything at least once-and often with great success. She had a passion for genealogy

and admired the boldness of Colorado icons like Molly Brown and Mary Rippon, the first female professor at the University of Colorado.

Charlotte is survived by her children: Micheal New, Linda New, Christina Ross, and Andrew Whetsel; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Don, her parents, her brother Homer Hill, and sons Stephen and Timothy.
