Charlotte Zerof Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 4, 2025.
Charlotte Zerof (Ann Charlotte Zerof) of Lexington, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025. She was the wife of the late Selwyn Allen Zerof. Charlotte was born in Pittsburgh on September 22,1932. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Nellie Kelly Lauth. She revered her older brother and sisters, the late Edward Lauth Jr. , Nellie Valentine , and Mollie Tussing.

The childhood picture below has Nellie and Eddie Jr. (top row) and then Charlotte (left) and Mollie (right) (bottom row).

[After their mother died, Charlotte's father married the late Mary "Libby" Hook (with a son, the late David Planker). They had a son, the late Christopher Lauth.]

She is survived by her sons Eric (Ann) and Mark; and one grandson.

A 1956 graduate of the University of Miami she worked for many years at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. She volunteered in many civic causes and organizations, including the merger of Lexington with Fayette County and N.O.W. She served as the President of the League of Women Voters in three states (Kentucky, New Mexico and Florida). Of those three states only the Commonwealth of Kentucky addressed mail to her as "President, Legal Women Voters".

In retirement she and Selwyn lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Fort Myers, Florida, before she returned to Lexington.

She enjoyed reading and weaving. She especially loved weaving with her friends of the Navajo Nation.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the League of Women Voters of Kentucky or Adopt a Native Elder.
