Charmaine "Charm" Delores Beckman Born Seattle, WA, January 4, 1926 Died Tracy, CA, June 14, 2008 Attended elementary school in California and New York. Attended high school in Honolulu in 1941 at the start of WWII and completed high school in SF at Lowell HS, UC Berkeley graduate. Taught school in SF, Livermore and Kwajalein, Marshall Islands. Retired librarian for the Jefferson School District, Daly City, CA. Traveled extensively. Never Married. Volunteer for the SF Symphony, Project Open Hand, and Habitat for Humanity. Preceded in death by her parents: Alma Challman Beckman and John Peter Beckman; and brothers, Clifford Beckman and Kenneth F. Beckman. Survived by nieces, Donna Beckman of El Cerrito, CA, and Vicki Rapaport of Brentwood, CA. Memorial Service Tues., June 24, 1pm, St. Marks Lutheran Church, 1111 O'Farrell St., SF, CA 94109. In lieu of flowers, donations to Project Open Hand; Habitat for Humanity; St. Marks Lutheran Church.

I remember Charmaine, with great fondness, from our days as librarians in Jefferson Elementary School District. Charme will no doubt be remembered by many children for guiding them through the world of literature.
