Cheryl R. (Carpenter) Proulx, beloved wife of John R. Proulx, passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2019 at High Pointe House surrounded by her family. She was 70. Born in Boston on June 16, 1949, she was a daughter of the late Jerome and Roberta (Wilder) Carpenter. For Cheryl, family and faith were central in her life. Cheryl considered herself a homebody and focused on her family. She raised her children in the church and was a constant model of faith in their lives. While raising her sons, she also worked in food service at St. Josephs Catholic High School and later at Lowell Catholic High School, where she loved her daily interaction with the children. While a member of Christ Church United in Dracut, Cheryl was particularly involved as a youth group leader, helping to organize group retreats and other events. Cheryl made strong connections with many members of the groups and has received comments and letters from former members that wanted to let her know the positive impact she had on them. More recently, Cheryl and John became members of the Marsh Corner Community Church where she continued her commitment to her faith and family. Surviving her besides John, with whom she celebrated 50 years of marriage this past August 8th, are two sons and daughters in law, David and Giselle Proulx of Dracut, Brian and Kimberly Proulx of Chelmsford; a granddaughter, Aleksandra Proulx; a brother Dennis Carpenter of Hampton Falls, NH; her special family, Peter and Kelly Brask and their children Rachel, Jessica and Kourtney. Relatives and friends are invited to Cheryl's Life Celebration in the McKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street on Friday from 4 until 8 PM. Her funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM in the Marsh Corner Community Church, 317 Pelham St. Methuen. Spring burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery, Dracut. In lieu of flowers donations in Cheryl's memory may be made to High Pointe House, 360 North Ave, Haverhill, MA 01830 or Marsh Corner Community Church – Capital Fund, 317 Pelham St, Methuen, MA 01844.

Cheryl's Obituary Comment From Me On Line

~ 12-9-19 ~

Dear John,
You have been Cheryl's rock and her strength. Her children were the focus of her life and being a Grandmother has been her greatest joy.

Oh, how I'll miss her. During the 35 or so years that we've been close friends we shared so many lunches, hugs, sad times , good times, spiritual times and laughs . her wonderful, contagious joy-filled laugh that would start anybody who heard it, laughing too. A couple of months ago, one of my daughters told me that I laughed like her. A true compliment. I must have unknowingly picked it up through the years.

She was always there to listen whenever anyone was struggling with something and would offer help in any way possible. She was a faithful friend who would always check in with her friends who were going through a difficult time.

She was cherished as the by the kids at Christ Church United's Teen Group at. She had a heart for those kids and they knew it. They knew that they could share anything with her knowing that they could trust her and would get nothing but love and compassion in return.

Our gentle Cheryl will be remembered and missed forever.
My prayers will continue for you and your sweet family, John.

John, David and Brian. Cheryl was a wonderful, caring and loving sister. When we were very young she was also my best friend. My earliest childhood memories all include Cheryl. Whenever we talked our conversations ended with her telling me that she loved me. Her wonderful, crazy laugh was infectious.

Cheryl was also a wonderful aunt to Craig and Amy, they both adored her.

She was one of the most special people I've ever known. She always forgave, she always cared and she always loved. I'll miss her terribly.

I don't know where to begin. So many memories. Every harry potter movie that came out we went to see followed by a nice meal. Holidays at your house will always be a memory cherished the most by the whole family. The impact on the countless number of people's lives you had speaks volumes. Ill never forget your smile, your laugh, and your glow. I can only hope where ever it is you are up there that you are filled with joy and happiness and love. That you are now standing rightfully so next to your parents. Love you and miss you.

John and family, I am so very sorry for your loss. Cheryl was a significant influence in shaping my Christian faith during the years she was my youth group leader at CCU.
