Cheryl Lynn Salas

A beacon of light was extinguished at 10:36 a.m. on Friday, June 20th, with the untimely passing of Cheryl Davis-Salas. Cheryl was one of those rare individuals whose beauty on the inside was as stunning as the outside. Always smiling and perfectly pulled together, her beauty and zest for life attracted people like moths to a flame.

Cheryl never met a stranger. It didn't matter if you were the cashier at the grocery store, the man selling peanuts at the Charger game, or somebody she sat next to at a restaurant, she left knowing your history, and she never forgot your name. Often these new friends showed up at parties or group outings and were soon embraced by all. Her organizational skills were unsurpassed, and she somehow managed to keep track of everybody. You always felt special in her presence, even as she herded you to the next outing or task.

Cheryl's home was the hub for family and friends. From the extravagant affair to someplace to land after dinner, all were welcomed and spoiled. She never forgot a birthday or an anniversary, and she was always the first to volunteer her time for anybody in need. Her husband George and son Alec were her whole world, and her pride and love for them was evident in every conversation or Facebook post. She ended almost every day with a phone call to her mother. While her death has ravaged the hearts of many, we celebrate her passing into the Kingdom of Heaven knowing she will reunite with her father, Brit Davis, and watch over us from above.

A long time, cherished employee of RR Donnelley & Sons, Cheryl was in charge of the Accounting Department.

Born July 24, 1967, on Eglin Air Force Base in Fort Walton Beach, FL, Cheryl grew up in Chula Vista, CA and graduated with honors in 1985 from Castle Park High School. She attended Kelsey-Jennings Business College and graduated with a degree in Accounting. She is survived by her husband George, son Alec, mother Marianna Davis, sister and brother-in- law Debbie and Sergio Martinez, her niece and nephew, Sergio Jr. and Jackie Martinez, her beloved Roxy, and extended family and friends that are too numerous to mention. Even in death, Cheryl will leave her mark as a humanitarian, as twenty-eight others will enjoy an increased quality or extension of life through her gift of eye, tissue and organ donation.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, June 26th from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Eternal Hills Mortuary and Cemetery located at 1999 El Camino Real, Oceanside, CA 92054. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 27th at the New Venture Christian Fellowship located at 4000 Mystra Drive, Oceanside, CA 92056. A celebration of life reception will follow at 2365 Bliss Circle, Oceanside, CA 92056.
