Mr. Chester Hatten was born on April 3, 1947 as the 9th child of Joe Nathan and Lena (Carlisle) Hatten. Growing up in Hatten Community he spent his developmental time with his brothers and other family members on the family farm being the one to play jokes on his siblings.

Accepting Christ at an early age, he was united with the Old Palestine Missionary Baptist Church of Taylorsville, Ms. attending as a child with his family.

It was noted that he was blessed to be deaf; and so he was allowed to attend the School for the Deaf in Jackson, MS. graduating with his high school degree. He was nicknamed "Chet" and continued to be known as Chet throughout his life by friends and family. Chet was industrious with the ability to work and use his hands throughout his life and a participant in the Mississippi Deaf Association. He was well loved by family and friends.

Preceding him in death were his Parents: Mr. Joe Nathan Hatten and Mrs. Lena Carlisle Hatten; two sisters, Mrs. Carlean Hatten Sullivan (Liddell) of Taylorsville, Ms. and Mrs. Helen Naomi White (Jesse) of Taylorsville, Ms.; and six brothers: Mr. Clarence Hatten (Maggie) of Laurel Ms., Mr. JD Hatten (Pearlie) of Cross City Fl., Mr. JC (Fiddle) Hatten (Janie) of Taylorsville Ms., Mr. Nathaniel Hatten of Joliet Il., Mr. Joe B. Hatten (Lena) of Middlesboro, Ky., and Mr. Odell Hatten (Albertine) of Taylorsville Ms.

He leaves to cherish his memory, three children; his sister: Mrs. Etherlene Gentry (Lepolion) of Jackson Ms; two surviving sister-in-laws: Mrs. Tina Hatten and Mrs. Brenda Hatten; Two Brothers: Mr. Charles Hatten (Dorothy) of New Hebron, Ms. and Mr. Bennie L. Hatten (Fannie Mae) of Taylorsville Ms.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church families and friends.
