Chloe Katich was born on October 21, 1991 in
Saint Louis, Mo. She just turned 33 years, when her life ended on November 26, 2024, one month after her son, Onyx, was stillborn on October 22, 2024.
Chloe was a beautiful beloved daughter, sister, niece, cousin, and friend. As a child Chloe was always a gentle soul, loving, kind, caring, a friend to everyone she met. She loved her Barbies, baby dolls, dance class; she was always in a dress or tutu. She has a wonderful artistic talent, always painting pictures of our family and butterflies for her mama, which fill our home. She loved to sing and collect animals, a dog, several cats, geckos, hermit crabs, fish, birds, chinchillas, bunnies, hedge hogs and a pink tarantula. She even tried to rescue a chipmunk with a broken leg.
When her baby brother, Joshua, was born, it was love at first sight, although when he cried, she did ask me to take him back to the hospital...but when he was baptized and the priest anointed him which made him cry...she yelled "don't hurt my baby brother". These two were always together and shared many friends. As they grew older they hung out and were always inviting kids over to our home, which shenanigans would begin. A surprise treasure box appeared in her brother's room, it held secret treasures collected for her brother, a new one appearing ever so often. Anything she found with a butterfly on it would appear in our home for mom.
Chloe has many friends and an equal number of cousins. So many friends from grade school, middle school and high school are reaching out to Joshua and me. Her best friend, Krisi; sisters connected by their beautiful souls. Some of her favorite teachers were Mrs. Williams at Kennerly in grade school, Mr. Thoele at Sperreng middle school, Mr. Early and Mr. Piontek at Lindbergh High School. She had great memories in most of her classes. Chloe had a wonderful education at Webster University, studying Fine Arts.
Whether we were on the beach in Perdido Keys, Florida or playing in the snow in our back yard, hiking at Elephant Rocks, the zoo, we were making memories. Grandpa and Grandma Mays lived around the corner from us. The kids loved to venture to the Grandparents home. Chloe mentioned that she wanted to move to her childhood neighborhood, so that her children could walk to my house. What a lovely thought.
For the past 10 years, Chloe worked at Five Ten with her work family, Krisi, Chance, Derek, Robin and Michael. Chloe loved her job and felt wonderful about this, as she felt she was helping people to stop smoking. She loved the math and chemistry. Being precise was important to her.
Chloe is survived by her mother, Nancy Mays Katich, brother, Joshua Katich, father, Mark Katich (Karen). For 7 months Chloe was married to Rian Martin-Jones, being a step-mother to 3 children was a joy.
Chloe's life was cut short, but her spirit lives on. She is with her baby son, Onyx, who was not able to take a breath, delivered one day after her birthday this year. Chloe and Onyx visit Nancy when she closes her eyes. Baby girl, we will miss your beautiful smile, lovely laugh, especially when your brother gets you going with belly laughs, trying to outdo each other, and then ganging up on the mama!
If mama could give you one thing in life, I would have given you the ability to have seen yourself through my eyes, only then you would see how truly special you are. Chloe bug you will be forever missed by all who knew you, until we meet again in heaven, I will see you in my dreams. God chose me to be your mother, and I am so blessed for it. You both are so missed.
