Christina Hamilton Obituary

HAMILTON- Christina Elise "Chrissy"
July 5, 1985 - April 21, 2023

It is with great sadness and grief in our hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, Christina Elise Hamilton, who went to be with the Lord suddenly on April 21, 2023, at the age of 37. She was the loving daughter of Joanne (nee Shepherd) Hamilton and Walter Hamilton; cherished sister of Monica (nee Hamilton) Foster, Terri Hamilton and Mary Hamilton; devoted aunt of Nina (nee Davis) Williams, Jasmine Davis, Mya Davis, Joshua Davis, Iyana Davis, and Alaina Hamilton-Martinez; also survived by a host of other relatives and friends who loved and cherished her dearly.

Growing up, Chrissy had a passion for music at a young age. Her father taught her the piano and she was naturally gifted at singing. She attended Performing Arts High School, where she originally enrolled for art alone, but wound up graduating with a diploma not only in this major of her choice, but music and communications as well. During her time there, she played the lead in many plays such as Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Little Shop of Horrors, and many other notable productions. Upon graduating in 2003, she went on to perform and participate in Miss Buffalo, worked for Channel 4 News and traveled to New York City for Stint and Modeling. Right around that time she was working on her music album as well, and went on to further her studies outside of New York State. She attended University of Texas at Arlington where she then earned her Bachelor's Degree in Broadcast Journalism. During her time in Texas, she was instrumental in her church and enjoyed performing at many Christian-based junctures. After Gerald Levert passed on, she performed at his mansion for the Real Men Can Cook convention that took place there. She had always been passionate in her relationship with God, but wanted to make it her focal point all that much more that she eventually decided to continue her studies at Regent, a Christian University in Virginia Beach, and earned her Master's Degree in media communications and theology of Divinity. She had a love for hamsters and dogs, giving to the poor, and holding powerful and uplifting prayer meetings for her loved ones where those closest to her joined her in groups of fasting, not only for the edification of Jesus Christ, but also in the hopes to strengthen one another for miracles to come to fruition as well.

Chrissy strived to be the best person she could be during her short time here with us, and never once forgot about her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ despite her circumstances or any hardships she had to face during her lifetime. What we admired about her most of all is the unconditional love she gave to others. Her strong and fearless personality, along with her generous heart and compassion for life, is what we all will miss the most. Her favorite scripture was this and now speaks to us more than ever before as she will continue on in spirit, Philippians 4:13 which states, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me".

Relatives and friends may visit the Bethel AME Church, 1525 Michigan Ave., Buffalo NY 14209, Monday, May 8, 2023, with the Wake beginning at 10 AM and Services starting at 11 AM. Missing you, my friend. I still have my birthday Teddy bear "Chris" that you sent me on my birthday, exactly 3 weeks before your passing. You had such a sense of urgency to get my address and send me the surprise gift of flowers, balloon, and teddy bear. I keep my birthday card in my Bible. Love you forever!

I had the pleasure of teaching Christina her senior year at the Arts Academy - I was also the Class of 2003 Senior Advisor.

Though it's been 20 years, I can still see Christina sitting in my class. When she participated, it was always a thought-provoking comment that moved understanding in the class forward.

I was deeply, deeply saddened to hear of her death.

I've been keeping Christina - and her entire family - in my thoughts and prayers and I will continue to do so.

My life was made better by knowing her. May her memory be a blessing.

DON´T CRY FOR ME

Don't cry for me now I have died, for I'm still here I'm by your side,
My body's gone but my soul is here, please don't shed another tear,
I am still here I'm all around, only my body lies in the ground.
I am the snowflake that kisses your nose,
I am the frost, that nips your toes.
I am the sun, bringing you light,
I am the star, shining so bright.
I am the rain, refreshing the earth,
I am the laughter, I am the mirth.
I am the bird, up in the sky,
I am the cloud, that's drifting by.
I am the thoughts, inside your head,
While I'm still there, I can't be dead.
