Christine Barbee Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 23, 2017.
Christine Elizabeth Barbee, age 28 years, of Carrollton Texas passed away in her home on Tuesday, June 20, 2017. She was born in Waco, Texas on Wednesday, December 07, 1988 to Brent Bob Barbee and Jane Elizabeth Barbee (Emery). She was the first born of the couple's two children. She welcomed her little sister, Courtney, in 1991.

Christine spent most of her childhood in Carrollton, Texas, having moved there with her family in 1994. As a child, she was creative and outspoken, and she loved to tell stories and put on performances. As a young adult, Christine suffered the untimely deaths of her parents. Her mother in 2012 and father in 2015.

Christine, since middle school, would also be known as 'Stine' by her closet friends. Growing up, she spent many years in an organization called Destination Imagination where she would develop her creativity, passion for performing, and other skills that impacted her life greatly. She graduated with honors from Creekview High School in 2007 and was involved in several activities including a small selective choir group called Legends, Moving Ground which explored dance as an art form, and many theatrical performances and plays through the school.

Christine went to Texas Tech University for her first year of college then transferred to the University of Texas at Dallas where she studied Psychology and Neuroscience and earned her Bachelor of Science degree.

After graduating, Christine spent time working as a math tutor at several schools through a program. She had many aspirations of helping and teaching others; becoming a teacher, a yoga instructor, and acting in local theatrical performances. By far, Christine's favorite art form was theatre which she said herself had shaped much of who she was. She also enjoyed knitting, yoga, and reading.

Christine could be found at some of her favorite places like the ponds and park near the family home growing up and camping by the lake. She aspired to travel the world and loved being near the mountains and nature.

Christine was a big movie buff and loved TV series as well. She had many favorites; too many to list, but notably admired actors like Jack Nicholson and Meryl Streep.

Christine was a kind, loving, and giving human being and was known to help others and give to charities such as The Humane Society, donating to Good Will, and many others.

Christine will be remembered as a passionate person and full of love. She was smart, witty, and didn't hold back anything she wanted to say or any of her emotions. She had a beautiful soul and an amazing impact on everyone she knew. She made friends everywhere she went and could connect with people on a meaningful level. She loved to sit and talk for hours about the meaning of life, itself. She had an uncanny ability of finding beauty and love in every aspect of life.

In Christine's own words, she wrote the following about herself for a highlight section of her webpage: I have a very wide vocal range (speaking and singing), and am able to convincingly change my pitch for whatever age I need to sound like. With my background in acting, I am capable of studying and mastering accents, committing my voice to change and adapt to whatever role, character, or situation that is required. I am a very hard worker and commit 100% to whatever project I am working on. I am firm believer in "method acting", even if I am not actually acting as a character, meaning that I firmly believe in bringing what is required of me into my everyday life and researching all aspects of the job: the history, the different aspects and complexities of the vocal sounds required, what is being promoted, and listening to as many similar "performances" I possibly can. With this full and complete understanding, I am then able to fully immerse myself in the job. I can bring out emotions and complexities within myself in order to give my best possible performance.

Christine is preceded in death by her mother Jane Elizabeth Barbee (Emery), father Brent Bob Barbee, Grandparents John Emery, Doris Emery, Wendall Barbee, Wilma Barbee, and Uncle Craig Barbee.

Christine is survived by her beloved little sister Courtney Barbee of Frisco, TX, Uncle Paul Emery of Plano, TX, cousin Brian Barbee of Oklahoma City, OK, Aunt Nina Barbee of Norman, OK, several extended cousins, and a host of long-time friends.

The theme of Christine's celebration of life is 'free spirit.' Please feel free to dress accordingly to fit the bohemian/free spirit style of clothing that Christine so loved.

I was a high school classmate of Christine's and although we did not keep in touch after graduation, I remember her as someone who was talented, funny and kind, and who always had something to say. My thoughts are with her loved ones in this difficult time.

Courtney, I am so very sad and upset that you lost your sister way too soon. I loved your Mom in here and we talked daily in messages, told each others secrets and thoughts, bragged about our children we loved so dearly, played games, talked on the phone, had each other's passwords to help each other out in a pinch and when your Mom was in the hospital. She so loved the flowers Nancy and I sent her and we were so glad we sent them, and it is sad it has come down to just you now. Don't let it get you down. Grieve as long as you have to but if you need help please seek it - we want you around a long time and to have your parents so proud of you and know how much they loved the two of you. Christine is now with your parents and you will always be here - praying for her and her happiness in Heaven. Praying for you and your happiness here on earth. May God be with you always.

For most of my life I considered Christine my soul-sister, and words fail utterly in conveying the true measure of her loss. However, I will forever be grateful for the countless memories we shared. It was truly a great joy and comfort to have had her in my life, and I hope one day I will once again have the privilege of encountering her beautiful soul. Wherever you are Christine, know that you are loved and will never be forgotten.
