Ruby Christine (Erwin) Welch DeAtley, 86, of Kansas City, MO passed away peacefully on Nov. 16, 2015. Funeral service 11am Thurs., Nov. 19th at the First Baptist Church of Independence (500 W. Truman Rd., Indep., MO) with visitation one hour prior. Burial following in Longview Cemetery.

Christine was born in Holden, MO to Murray & Blanche (Stapleton) Erwin. Her family moved to Kansas City when she was a teenager & she graduated from Manual High School. She worked as the Assistant Personal Director for KCP&L for many years in the 1970's. During that time, she also volunteered as a Youth Probation Officer for Jackson County, MO. After retiring from KCP&L she went to nursing school & received her RN license through Penn Valley Community College in 1984. Christine received a specialty in the field of psychiatric nursing, a career she found to be very rewarding. She was active in her church, teaching Sunday School for many years at First Baptist Church of Independence. She was an animal lover & enjoyed spending time with her many feline friends.

Christine was preceded in death by her parents & her sisters, Laura Ford & Nora Vickers. She is survived by her son, Steven Welch (Debbie) of Blue Springs, MO; her daughter, Carla Arthur (James) of Fresno, CA; grandchildren, Michael Welch (Rustie), Amy Welch, Patrick Welch (Lindsay), Carrie (Arthur) Bowman (Glenn) of Coarsegold, CA & Vincent Arthur of Dillon, CO; great grandchildren, Damon Welch, Ashley Welch, Parker Welch, twins – Lydia & Caitlyn Welch & twins - Sophia & Thomasina Welch and Caitlyn Bowman of Coarsegold, CA.
