Christine Wilson Higginbotham, age 90, of Florence, died Tuesday, May 29, 2007, at Mitchell-Hollingsworth Rehab and Nursing Center.

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 30, from 6-9 p.m. at Elkins Funeral Home, Florence. The funeral will be Thursday, May 31, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Pettus Cemetery, Lexington, Ala. The Rev. Larry Bullard will officiate.

Christine was a member of Broadway Baptist Church. She was the last surviving charter member of First Baptist Church, Lexington.

She was preceded in death by husbands, Clark Higginbotham and Stewart Higginbotham; her parents, R.O. and Mary Wilson; brothers, Paul, Clyde Norris, Ralph and Bill Wilson.

She is survived by sons, John Higginbotham and wife, Ginnie, Tommy Higginbotham and wife, Barbara; daughters, Martha Shaffer and husband, Joe Yearling, Mary Jean Ligon and husband, Al; grandchildren, Chris Curtis and wife, Naomi, Craig Curtis and wife, Mary, Andrea Geissler and husband, Bill, Shawn Ligon and wife, Whitney, Candace Schlosser and husband, Al, Thomas Higginbotham and wife, Deanna, Heather Ward and husband, Logan; great-grandchildren, Kaya and Alia Curtis, Devon and Graham Curtis, Mary Karlin and Rachel Geissler, Mackenzie Ligon, Luther and Eliot Ward; step great-grandchildren, Kristen and Sam Dalton; brothers, Marvin Wilson and wife, Frances, Coye Wilson and wife, Frances; sister, Ellen Johnson; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Clinton Wilson.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to Wee Care Day Care Center, c/o Broadway Baptist Church, 3215 Huntsville Road, Florence, AL 35630.

Special thanks to the Station 6 Staff at Mitchell-Hollingsworth for their loving care.

Mary Jean, I am sorry to learn about the death of your mother. I saw her & her sister around Christmas.I told her I was so proud to see them together.I remember her and her smile when i went to church at Weeden Heights she always had a smile on her face. I will remember your family in my prayers.

John, Tommy, Martha, Mary Jean. We are so very sorry to hear about Christine. She was a very special lady that we will always remember. Not only was she a very special mother-in-law to me she was a very special grandmother and great-grandmother. Thank you for sharing your Mother with us.
