Christine Pitt Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 10, 2024.
Christine C. Pitt, 72, of Georgetown Massachusetts passed away December 6, 2024 after a long illness. She graduated from Masconomet Regional High School in Boxford, MA and earned her teaching degree from UNH in Durham, NH.

Chris spent her 35-year career teaching Home Economics life skills at Locke Middle School in Billerica, MA. During that time she worked with hundreds of eager learners.

Chris possessed expert skills in sewing and design. Whether classroom related or for personal satisfaction, her creations involved various media including exquisite fabric art. Gardening was a joyful endeavor, too. Chris created delightful flower gardens that planned for colorful blossoms during Spring, Summer and Fall. In recent years, her life was brightened by visits from neighbors and friends and conversations with family members. All can cite examples of Chris' humor and gratitude.

Chris was predeceased by her parents, David and Mary (Geron) Pitt, her sister Leslie Russo, and her brother David Pitt, Jr. She is survived by her sister Ellen Barry and her husband John of Eddington, ME, nephews Alex Barry and Stephen Pitt and nieces Heather (Barry) Baines and Lindsay Russo, as well as her lifelong friend, Jessie McKone of Durham, NH, who was like a sister to her.

There will be no services by request. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at https://www.alz.org/

I have a multitude of memories that I shall never forget for I knew Chris for over forty years. We shared many occasions teaching at the Locke Middle School. She was a gifted fabric seamstress who displayed her talents in the school setting. No one could forget her quilted Christmas tree skirts, placemats, October decorations, and ornaments. She provided her talents to her students with her incessant encouragement and expertise. We shared many school moments and visits in her new home. She was especially proud of her home and her gardens. I will greatly miss our friendship for I have lost a special sincere friend.I love you,Chris.

I remember the bright shining girl who played with us summers in Maine. Our families were extremely close and we loved each other. Deepest sympathy to the Ellie and the rest of the Pitt family. RIP Chrissie.

As a now retired local builder and neighbor, Chris hired me to work on her beautiful home. We became good friends. I often dropped in to see her and do odd jobs. As a gift she gave me a Christmas tree skirt which sits under our tree today. Rest in peace Chris.

Chris was a beautiful, witty and smart lady. She shared her talents and left lifelong impressions on so many lucky students. I am so relieved that she is no longer in pain, but I will miss her presence and our (often funny) visits and calls.
