Christopher Victor Basil WOODSTOCK- Christopher Victor Basil, a lifelong Woodstock resident passed away peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2017. He was surrounded by family and close friends. Chris was 63. Predeceased are his parents, Mari and Victor Basil and sister, (Margaret) Gig Basil. He was an excellent carpenter and much admired bass guitar player. Chris was loved and respected by everyone who knew him. During the recent weeks of his illness he shared stories of the old days, playing music with his first band members, and some from present day jam sessions. Surviving are his brother, John Basil of Woodstock; sister, Marina Basil-McConnell of Rosendale; niece, Adrienne Schussler, currently traveling in the Philippines; aunt, Barbara Caddy of San Diego; several cousins scattered around the U.S.; and many wonderful friends all over the world. Memorial services will be held this Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017, at 11a.m. at St. Gregory’s Episcopal Church, Rt. 212, in Woodstock. Reception will follow after noon. All friends and family are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Gregory’s Episcopal Church or local food panty.
