Christopher Wade Briggs, 50, passed away unexpectedly from cardiac arrest on Friday, March 25, 2022, in his hometown of Pensacola, FL.
Chris was born on February 22, 1972, in Oxnard, CA. He graduated from Booker T. Washington High School and continued his studies at Pensacola State College and University of West Florida. As a young man, Chris served his country in the United States Air Force while assigned to a B1 Bomber Squadron. Afterwards, Chris went on to spend most of his working life as a hospitality extraordinaire in many cities including Fort Lauderdale, Cincinnati, San Francisco, Rochester, and his hometown of Pensacola. Chris poured his heart and soul into his work. A master at every level, Chris was the consummate professional.
Chris' zest and joy for life were legendary. His love for food and drink was surpassed only by his passion for friends and family. Chris held a very special and dear place in his heart for his mother. He considered her one of his best friends. Their mother-son bond was unbreakable and was evident to all those who knew them. He cherished their time together tending to their roses while chatting and laughing about life. Chris also cherished his life with Shane, his partner of 7 years. They built lasting memories together embarking on countless adventures, always to return with glorious tales of whimsy and mischief. Always the life of the party, Chris was a devoted son, loving partner, and trusted friend.
Some souls shine brighter than others. Some shine so bright they sparkle. Chris SPARKLED. As Chris danced across the rainbow, a smile stretched across his face when he shouted "SPARKLE" to all his new heavenly friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Freddie Briggs, Jr.
Chris is survived by his mother, Rebecca Briggs; partner, Shane Renfroe; brother, Freddie Briggs III (Laura); niece, Jessica Briggs; great-nephew, Keefer Koda and many friends and family members.
Visitation will be held 1:00pm until at time of sharing and memories by family and friends at 1:30pm Saturday, April 9, 2022, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Chris, I just found out about this today as we didn’t keep up much the past few years! You were always the life of the party and always put a smile on everyone’s face! I wish I knew sooner than today! I know you’re up there being Chris! #sparkle

Chris, we were like brothers when you were here in Rochester. I had a heart problem on March 1 and I am still recuperating. I had no messages from you so I investigated, and found out that we had lost you. What a bright spot you always were, in my life, and in every one’s that you touched. Keep the party going up there- til we meet again. Love - Ron

To Chris’s family we are so sorry for your loss. We are sorry for our loss too as Chris was a wonderful young man. We came to know him thru his work. He had told me about his recent trip to New Orleans and the great time of relaxation and rest. He always had a smile on his face and a friendly greeting. My heart breaks for his Mom. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
