We hadn't seen each other for years but Chris was in so many of my childhood memories. Our families spent a lot of time together and our holidays were amazing. Chris was always so kind and selfless and I won't ever forget the happy memories. Sending all my love and prayers to chris's family xx

It has take me 5 days to try and find the words for this and I'm still struggling.
Chris is my best friends brother and like any little brother he would annoy Lee and I daily. If you know Lee he moans enough so you can imagine he got worse due to his little brother.
I saw Chris grow from a child to a man, Join the army, handle more drink than his older brother and finally some would argue he grew to be the better looking brother of the family.
All I know right now is that Chris was a wonderful, happy person who i had the privilege to grow up with and would be honored to call a brother. He will be dearly missed and it was a blessing to know him.
Mel, Keith, Matt & Lee, I am deeply sorry for your loss and my heart aches for you at this time.
I never had the opportunity to meet Chris's American family. I cannot imagine what you are going through right now but I am sure Chris will be watching you from heaven and will continue to love and protect you during this terrible time and as you move forward.
I'm so sorry. Chris you were loved so dearly and will never be forgotten.

Chris was the first ever kid I spoke to at school when we were 5, I'll never forget that he was wearing double denim, and we were in the same class all the way up to 16. It is a pleasure to have known him for so long and incredibly sad to hear of what he has been through. My thoughts are with you all.

Chris had a heart of gold, he was kind, funny, smart, and had the most infectiously happy personality.

Absolutely devastated, remember him growing up playing with my brother and his friends and then randomly bumping into him at different barracks around the country in the Royal Engineers. A true gent who had the biggest smile, we'll meet at the squadron bar in the sky again someday brother. RIP Sapper.

I have very happy, fun memories of Chris when we were growing up, him as the older "grown up" cousin but really he was always just having a drink, acting the clown and making us laugh!

Lee and Chris were my first real friends growing up. I have so many childhood memories of us doing kid things' for the first time, riding bike at 'The Fort'... etc.
Chris was always a fun, and had a really good sense of humour.
A hero in every sense of the word, he fought for his country and he fought as hard as anyone could against illness.

I have some wonderful memories of such a fun-loving, lively and wonderful man that I am proud to call my cousin. His sense of humour and personality simply lit up the room and I will never forget the time he casually announced he'd just eaten a questionable item in a pub where we were holding a charity pool competition (to this day I've never seen anything like it!)
We had great times with family having a few beers and celebrating birthdays a memorable one being Hawaiian themed and Chris wearing an awesome loud shirt.
I'll always remember Chris's spirit and how he'd make everything seem lighter, funnier and simply better.
Sending so much love to the rest of Chris's family, friends and beautiful boys who will no doubt be a credit to their Dad and will reflect his amazing nature. xxxx

What unbelievably sad news.
Chris was always such a great guy and a wonderful friend. I particularly remember a time when a kid that we didn't know at school was getting hurt by another student and Chris was the first person to go over and make sure he was ok and walked him to a place where he would be safe.
I'll be thinking of all of him family over the next few weeks. The world is a darker place without him.
