CHRISTOPHER A. FOAT

Born: April 26, 1984; in Barrington

Died: Dec. 2, 2007

He worked for the Crystal Lake post office and was studying to become a postal inspector

WOODSTOCK - Christopher A. Foat, 23, of Woodstock, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007, as a result of being struck by a truck.

He was born April 26, 1984, in Barrington, to David A. and Sally A. (Hull) Foat.

He planned to marry Shannon Friedel and was going to propose Dec. 20 while on a trip to Disney World.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Woodstock. As a child, and even into his adulthood, he participated in all forms of sports including football, wrestling, soccer, volleyball and baseball. He participated in indoor football leagues and helped as a coach whenever he could. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and Philadelphia Eagles fan, and he rooted for the Wisconsin Badgers.

He worked for the Crystal Lake post office and was studying to become a postal inspector. Being goal-oriented, he knew exactly where he wanted to go in life, and was willing to work two jobs and go to college at night to attain those goals. While working for the Postal Service, he was recognized by the National Postal Department for his honesty and integrity.

He truly enjoyed life. Always concerned about the happiness of others, he always would call friends and family to see whether they were doing well. Even if he was having a bad day, he wanted everyone else to have a good one. He particularly cared most for his family, and he always was calling home to check on his younger brothers to make sure that they were OK and staying out of trouble.

Survivors include his parents, David A. and Sally A. Foat of Woodstock; his fiancée, Shannon Friedel of Woodstock; two brothers, Joseph L. Foat and Nicholas Foat, both of Woodstock; his grandmother, Phyllis Foat of Marengo; his aunts and uncles, Debbie (Ed) Geiger of Hebron, Scott (Nancy) Hull of Cary and John (Annette) Hull of Crystal Lake; his cousins, Andrea (Ed) Carroll, Kristie (Mike) Quinto, Brad (Dawn) Hull, Jenny (Brian) Bruggman, Mike (Juli) Stefko and Eric Stefko; and many, many good friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John L. and Helen A. Hull, and Donald E. Foat.

The visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary Ave., Woodstock. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7, at the funeral home.

Interment will follow in McHenry County Memorial Park in Woodstock.

For information, call the funeral home at 815-338-1710.

Chris was my classmate at McHenry College this semester. He and I had been working on all the class projects together and so we used to call or email each other on a regular basis. He was focused in his studies and was doing very well in his class. He had scored an A grade in his last test and was determined to maintain it all the way to the end.

My thoughts and prayers are with Chris's family and friends. May he rest in peace.

I have only known him a short time,he has left a lasting impression. I'm very sorry for your loss.

Dave & Sal, Joe & Nick:

My first memories of Chris, the boy, are of babysitting at your house as a teenager and his boundless energy then. We loved family gatherings because we knew the boys would be there. My last memory of Christopher, the man, was at Mikey's wedding and my own little girl was so sick. I was very worried about how to handle taking care of her and my responsibilites to my brother. Christopher gave me a hug and said, "hey, we're family, it's going to be alright." He made me feel better then in a way I wish I could make you feel better now.

Grandma and Grandpa and Don have quite a presence amongst them.

Love and God Bless

Dearest Foat Family and all the other friends in Chris's life;
Chris is woven into the history of our family and always will be. We were blessed to be able to see Chris grow and mature into a wonderful young man. You raised a fantastic person, it is evident in the growing number of friends he has, and the longtime friendships he has maintained all his life. Our depth of sympathy for you has no bounds.
