Christopher FONSECA Obituary

Published by Monteal Gazette on Dec. 12, 2013.
FONSECA, Christopher Ryan
After a 13 year struggle with cancer, Christopher Ryan Fonseca passed away peacefully in his sleep at the tender age of 17 on Monday, December 9th, lovingly surrounded by his family. He was born in October of 1996 at the Royal Victoria Hospital, the son of Carlos David Fonseca and Cristina Rabasquinho. He attended St. Charles Elementary School in Pierrefonds and later Summit High School (Westmount and Lauren Hill branches). His passions in life were his family, art, animated films and Pokemon games on his 3DS, which was never far from his side. His art manifested itself early on with a passion for painting and other visual forms of expression which remain as cherished masterpieces in his parent's homes. Christopher is survived by his parents Carlos and Cristina as well as his older brother Jonathan. He leaves his maternal grandparents, Gabriela and Fernando Rabasquinho and his paternal grandfather Antonio Fonseca but joins his paternal grandmother Maria. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Salon Funéraires Urgel Bourgie located at 3955 Côté de Liesse Blvd in Ville St. Laurent. Visiting hours will be Thursday, December 12th from 7-9 p.m. and Friday from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Church services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Mission Santa Cruz Church located at 60, rue Rachel in Montreal, Qc. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to the Montreal Children's Hospital in Christopher's name where the family has set up a foundation to further research childhood brain tumours.

I will never forget Christopher's beautiful smile, his kind, caring,
sociable nature and his perseverance;
he always tried his best. His artistic
talent was evident even at five years old.
At his Kindergarten graduation, he sang
all the songs with such enthusiasm, it
was pure joy to see. Christopher was
indeed an exceptional boy who will always hold a special place in my heart.

In Loving Memory of Christopher

In the words of those who loved him most
"My Special Boy", "Let's raise a toast"
And how much can this boy be loved
Just lend an ear or read the prose
And when you have you'll see that those
Who's lives were touched this sweet soul
Will not let die the laugh and light
His sunshine spirit sowed and sowed
Now let the seeds of his great work
Be nourished with loving care
So that the seedlings coming forth
Can live on everywhere.

With Love

My most sincere condolences to the entire family. Chris was a very special young man. During my time home schooling him, as well as while he was in my grade 6 class, he taught me so much more than I could ever teach him. He taught me to always be positive, no matter how bleak everything seemed. He taught me to always say something nice because it's just the right thing to do. He taught me to smile, no matter how much things hurt. He taught me that laughter is always the best medicine. I will never ever forget Christopher. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of his life. Rest in peace my friend.

Carlos, my deepest condolences go out to you and your family for the loss of your dear son and brother. As I play my bells during this season, I will dedicate the song "Do You Hear What I Hear" for my Special Super Hero Christopher - this song was written as a plea for peace and I know that Christopher is now at peace.
