GREANEY-Christopher J. on February 14, 2017. Proud member of the FDNY. Beloved son of the late Clare (nee McDermott) and John T. Loving brother of John T, Robert, Richard, Ronald, Clare M. (Robert) Serrone, Donald, Virginia (John) Powers and Nancy (Brian) Duggan. Dear Loving uncle of 9. Christopher was loved by many. He leaves behind many dear, wonderful friends. He will be greatly missed by all. Visiting Thursday 7-9 pm and Friday 2-5 and 7-9 pm at M.J. Smith Sons/Joseph G. Duffy Funeral Home, 255 9th Street, Brooklyn. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday 10:15 am at St. Saviour Church. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Many people from Park Slope knew him as Chris, Greaney, or The Hammer. He was a special friend to all! To many he was family!! He often popped over when there was a party going on of good food and liquor. Chris offered a helping hand when ever he thought he was needed. Boy, Am I going to miss him as many others are!! Rest in Peace Hammer!!!

My heart and prayers go out to all of the Greaney family. Chris was a wonderful person and such an important part of our years growing up in Park Slope. I'll remember great afternoons after school in the park playing sports. The memories are plentiful. We were fortunate to enjoy many years in Park Slope with great neighbors. The Greaney Family was most certainly among them. Our children grew up together and went to the same schools and church.
