All memories of Chris have one thing in common - there was always a ready smile, no matter what was going on. He will be in our thoughts as the Class of 1959 gathers to remember our years together in Canton.

Chris and I were classmates and both in the class of 1959. I remember Chris and I driving the country roads for miles around Canton in his parents car looking for woodchucks. We never shot one but had a great time just being together. Chris was a great guy and he was always a friend.

Dear Mrs. Kapp & Family,

I just returned home from an out of state trip, and was saddened indeed to hear of the passing of Captain, Kapp. I knew him as a fellow employee at Mass. Maritime Academy, where I was the Campus Police Chief for 10 years. Knowing Mr. Kapp was to like him, he was always a professional and a gentleman in the truest sense of the word. Please accept my most sincere sympathy for this tremendous loss to you and the family. I will always think of Mr. Kapp when I think of the days at M.M.A. and keep him in my prayers. He deserves no less.

God Bless,

LeRoy R. Swayze

Be Still

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

Chris and I were classmates in Canton from third grade through high school, and I was deeply saddened by word of his illness and subsequent passing. I'll remember him as a cheerful, positive kid with a great sense of humor. Please know that he will be remembered with smiles by his friends and classmates at our upcoming reunion in July.

To the Kapp Family,

Chris and I were classmates at Canton Central. We both loved theater and played opposite each other in the school plays...even then he was a wonderful "husband." We also loved to take walks on the St. Lawrence campus, talking always about we hoped life would bring us. He was a kind and very supportive friend. We'll miss him terribly in July at the class reunion. I hope all these sentiments bring you some peace in the knowledge of how well Chris was loved.

As another member of CHS class of 59, I remember Chris from grade 4-12. Sledding on the University hill a short way from his house is only one memory. Best memory is Jr. or Sr. year tumbling in gym class. Being a typical teen that outgrew my coordination, I was very envious of the smiling "compact" guy that had such fine coordination. Chris will always be remembered fondly.

I remember Chris when he was four years old, and I was three. We attended nursery school together. When I was in second grade, I had my first "date" with him. We went to a party at the Universalist Church and got into trouble for playing hide and seek in the sanctuary. I had another date with him years later when I worked on Cape Cod. He gave me a sailing lesson which was kind of a disaster, because I didn't follow directions very well. All of his family should know that he was a great guy, even as a little kid.

My first encounter with Chris was my freshman year at CHS. Being from the country and coming from a large family, I was a bit intimidated by the big city. chris was always smiling and made me feel very comfortable . My prayers are with you and your family. I know Chris will be rwarded in a better place for his contributions on earth. God bless .

I just heard about Chris. I am a friend from grade school (1-12) in
Canton. Chris and I were sports bench sitting mates, class mates and just good friends for a long time. When he stopped to see me summer 06 in Canton he amazingly looked like the same guy I knew 45 years ago. If you look at the hockey team picture I am in the upper right corner laughing at Chris who managed to sneek into the front row.
He's well etched in my mind forever as I am sure he is with all of you

Dear Joanie and family,
I was at my own father's funeral when I heard of Chris passing. It was so sweet of you to be there for us Tuesday, especially after what you're going through now. I remember Chris being my sailing instructor at The Hyannis Yacht Club when I was 9. I can still picture him wearing his white sailor hat and beard. I'm so sorry for your loss, God bless you. Love, Allison (Drew) Launhardt

Dear Joani, Si, Chip,Elise, and Perry,
I am stunned to hear that Chris has passed away! I can't imagine how you are all suffering.

Chris was one of the most honest, loyal, hard-working, perceptive men I have ever known. As a captain, as a teacher, and as a friend he was the epitome of what all men should be. I know he was a loving and steadfast husband and father. I hope God sends you all peace as you go forward from here. I will keep you in my prayers always.

Love,
Barri Lynn

Joannie, Chip, Elise, Perri and Sy:

Our thoughts are with you right now. Chris was a wonderful man and I'm sure you all have such good memories of him. I had him in junior high for social studies and later on had the pleasure of reuniting with him when Matt and Elise went to the prom. Please know that if you need anything, do not hesitate to call. Joannie, you are an amazing person and Tod and I want you to know how much we appreciated you attending Harry's funeral especially considering what was going on in your family. You have a wonderful family and I'm sure there is a trait in each of your children that will make Chris live in your hearts forever.
Love,

Very sorry to hear about Mr. Kapp. In 1963-64, he was my eighth grade Social Studies teacher. He taught me a lesson that I remember to this day - that I had a lousy attitude. He was right and I've been working on it ever since. A very handsome guy, all of the girls at Barnstable Junior High at that time had a crush on him. I think the only guy they considered better looking was Dr. Kildare! My condolences to his family.
