Christopher Lukens Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 21, 2024.
Middletown - Christopher Douglas Lukens, 47, passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at home, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Neptune at Fitkin Hospital, now Jersey Shore Medical Center. He lived his early life in Montrose, California, in the foothills above Glendale. He began a love affair with Art and Music at the age of seven. He loved skateboarding and the outdoor life the weather in California offered.

Chris and his family moved back to New Jersey in 1992 where he attended Manasquan high school. After graduating in 1995 he attended Rutgers, New Brunswick, where he studied Art History. Chris was a drummer and a guitarist; a founding member of CHEMTRAIL, an instrumental pop-rock group, touring the tri-state area as well as PA and Nashville. He was a manager and bartender at Clancy's as well as Patrick's Pub. Chris was hard not to like; a gentle soul. He was a voracious reader and collector of vintage vinyl records.

He leaves behind his brother, David H Lukens Jr. of Belmar, his mother, Theresa J. D'Amato (nee McTernan) of Neptune, his stepfather, John D'Amato of Neptune, his partner and caregiver Mike Maresca of Middletown, NY, his beloved aunts, Carol Ann Witte of Basking Ridge and Veronica Goldberg of Stockton. He is predeceased by his father, David H Lukens III, and his uncle, Douglas H Lukens.

Visitation will be on Monday November 25 from 4 to 7pm at the Reilly Bonner Funeral Home, 801 D St. Belmar NJ. Cremation services will be handled privately. His remains will rest for eternity at St Anne's Cemetery, Wall Township.
