Christopher Monks Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 25, 2024.
Christopher Jude Monks, 61, passed away on June 15, 2024, in Tampa, Florida. Born on August 1, 1962, in Brooklyn, New York, he was a respected business owner and a cherished member of his community.

Christopher graduated from Hudson High School in 1980 and later established CM Plumbing Services in 1996, which he owned and operated with dedication and pride. He was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to service, traits that earned him respect and loyalty among his clients and peers.

Beyond his professional life, Christopher was a devoted family man and an altruistic individual. He is remembered as an amazing father, son, brother, and friend, always ready to support those in need. His guiding principle was that "Honesty without compassion is cruelty," a lesson he instilled in his children and lived by every day. Christopher enjoyed bowling and was an enthusiastic supporter of Tampa Bay sports teams, sharing many joyful moments with friends and family at games.

Christopher is survived by his mother, Ella Monks; sister, Susan Monks Ransom; daughters, Meagan, Lacey, and Jessica Monks; sons, Christopher Monks and Kyle Skloff; and nephew, John Monks IV. He was preceded in death by his father, John Monks Jr., and brother, John Monks III.

A service to celebrate Christopher's life will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Northwest Community Church, located at 14913 Hutchison Rd, Tampa, FL 33625.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association in Christopher's memory. His legacy of kindness and generosity will continue to inspire those who knew him, and he will be deeply missed.

Praying for Chris´ family and may he rest in eternal peace!

We miss Chris very much, he was family. He was always there for us. I can´t believe he´s no longer with us physically but his memory will stay with us. Chris and Michelle gave my son a job when he got out of the service and I will always be grateful. Plus he taught my son a lot about plumbing. He was a wonderful friend and father. He will be sincerely missed. May he rest in peace.

Chris was one of the nicest and most kind people I have ever met in my entire life. He was loud and proud about the love he had for his children and he always showed up for them no matter what. To know Jessica is to know Chris. Rest in peace

Chris was one of the nicest people I ever got to meet. It is not possible to be close friends with jessica and not know of all the great things that he was and will live on being. He showed up for people any opportunity that he could and he was loud and proud about the love he had for his children. You will be missed by so many. Your impact on the people around you was so strong. Even those who might have only had a few conversations with you could feel the type of person you were. Rest in paradise

Chris was an amazing dad to my best friend Jessica and her sister Lacey. You could tell he really loved his kids. Chris one time told me he would have to take me out to dinner sometime for being there for his daughter Jessica. Although I never got to take Chris up on his offer, I still remember just chatting with him in passing and I can say that he was an amazing guy. I barely knew him, yet the testimonies from his family and friends speaks volumes. I hope to get that dinner with him sometime in the next life, it´d be great to catch up. You will be missed greatly Chris.

Mr. Chris took me ice skating for the first time when I was little with Meagan. I´d never been before and it´s a core memory to this day at 36. I spent the entire weekend at their house that weekend and that´s when I also learned what to do when someone´s sugar got too low when we were at dinner. He took us to this steak house that I still remember going to this day. He always showed up to fix anything at our house that needed fixing too. He was always there for our family ever since Meagan and I met at Miss Debbie´s Daycare and cheered together. Our parents still remained life long friends. Last time we spoke was a year ago when I told him I was buying a house for myself and my parents " the old folks " to move in with me and he told me he was proud of me and he´d be there if I needed him to fix something.

Chris and I spoke every day and sat together at our spiritual meetings. He is the guy that would give you the shirt off his back. What a great friend. Prayers to his family and other friends. Love you bro.

Chris was a good friend for many years. We went to a lot of meetings together. Chris called me the RawMan because of my personal health challenges, we had a lot in common, we talked about God a lot, and Chris would be celebrating 37 yrs clean July 2nd so I know who´s leading the meeting that night in Heaven!
Love You my Brother, and will see you there just not too soon!!!!
