Christopher Troutman Rood

CHRISTOPHER TROUTMAN ROOD, 90, of Cincinnati, OH, beloved husband of the late Natalie Bosworth Rood, passed away November 7, 2023. He was born December 6,1932 in Mt Kisco, NY to the late Margaret Stillman Rood and Kingsland Troutman Rood and raised in Briarcliff Manor, NY. Having attended Deerfield Academy ('50), Dartmouth College '(54) and Amos Tuck School at Dartmouth ('56), he moved to Cincinnati to work at Procter & Gamble in Brand Management where he met the love of his life, Natalie. Like two peas in a pod, they had a romance that endured nearly 50 years. Chris also served 2 years in the U.S. Army between 1956 - 1958. He later went on to partner with his father-in-law at Bosworth and Co. which then became Product and Packaging Design.

Chris will always be remembered as an eternal optimist who faced life's challenges with a smile and a golf club in hand. Despite a body that progressively failed him, he was the embodiment of positivity. He had an uncanny ability to find the silver lining even on the cloudiest of days. His favorite pastimes included birding, (especially the Bullskin Creek Bird Club), walks in the woods, and perfecting his putting and golf swing with a dedication that rivaled the pros.

A perpetual learner, Chris had a voracious appetite for knowledge - from the latest technology trends to playing the latest games like Wordle. His love for his books was only rivaled by his constant humming, a cheerful soundtrack to his life.

In his most remarkable feat of caregiving, Chris stood by his beloved wife, Natalie, with unwavering strength and compassion during her illness. His selflessness and love were a testament to the extraordinary person he was.

As we say farewell, we remember Chris not for the challenges that he faced, but for the infectious joy and charm he brought to every moment.

Chris leaves behind his son Charles Kingsland (King) Rood (Brenda); his daughter Natalie Darrow Rood Goodspeed (Flip); and grandchildren: Christopher James Rood, Liza Goodspeed (Doug Yamamoto), and Jane Goodspeed. In addition to his wife, he is predeceased by his 3 sisters Carolyn Darrow Rood Sweetland, Margaret Rood Richardson, and Allison Rood Birmingham.

A private service will be held in the spring at Atwill Memorial Chapel at Northport Point, MI. Memorial contributions can be made to Cincinnati Nature Center (www.cincynature.org).
