Christopher James Schoenberger, 58, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 21, 2023. He was born on October 26, 1964 to Barbara (née Klein) and the late Robert Schoenberger. Chris was also the beloved stepson of the late Lawrence Meyer. Chris is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Lisa (née Baker) Schoenberger. Chris was the treasured father of Amanda (Chris) Presta, Craig (Stephanie) Schoenberger, Eric (Jessica) Schoenberger, and Kelly Schoenberger; adored grandfather to Brooke, Colton, Isabella, Finn, Anastazie, Isabella, Gordon, Cambria, River, and the late Gabrielle; admired brother of Michael, Jean (Steve) Congdon, Gregory (Tracey), Julie (Randy) Post; cherished uncle to numerous nieces and nephews; friend and confidant of countless others.
Chris was one of the kindest men you’d ever meet. He lived his life selflessly, always placing others’ needs above his own. A hearty laugh followed by a smile was a normal sight in his presence. His good-natured manner was infectious. As kind as he was wise, he often did things for others without them having to ask. He was never slow to formulate a plan to fix something or how to get an answer if he himself couldn’t give it. Everyone was either a friend or family.
He took over the family business when his father passed prematurely in 1998. He overcame the immense difficulties of entrepreneurship and, with his old German stubbornness, took the business to heights he never imagined to become one of the most well-known tile companies in the city. He flourished through the good times and persevered through the bad without ever taking his employees for granted. The success of the company, in his words, was always about making sure the employees were taken care of. Through his hard work, he encountered many people who loved working with him and often took it beyond a business or client relationship into many lifelong friendships.
His leisure time often included regional trips to Brown County, Indiana, or Amish country in Ohio to seek relaxation with Lisa. He found a sense of calmness enjoying the sounds of nature whether on trips or his own backyard. Working in his backyard soothed him where deer would enjoy his corn and birds would eat his seeds and make use of the many birdhouses in the yard. Nature was his peaceful escape from the daily grind. While his kids grew up, he enjoyed taking them fishing, ice skating, bowling and many other activities. Later on, his leisurely activities included watching his grandchildren play sports, his walks with his grandson, or his daily Michelob Ultra with employees and friends after a long day of hard work. Along with that, he had a mean sweet tooth, always seeking out a tasty dessert.
Chris’s absence will be felt far and wide. He touched so many people over the years who will miss his warm smile, jovial laugh, and his selflessness. Chris was a devout Catholic and lived his life as most Christians should. His unabashed kindness, endless patience, and positive outlook on life should give us all aspirations of how one should live.
Visitation will take place Monday, February 27, 2023, from 4:00p.m. until 7:00p.m., at Mihovk-Rosenacker Funeral Home, 10211 Plainfield Rd. Cincinnati, Ohio, 45241. Mass of Christian Burial will occur Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at 10:00a.m. at St. Saviour Parish, 4136 Myrtle Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio 45236. Burial will take place following service at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Christopher’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Many prayers for the Schoenberger family. Chris was unbelievably great human being. From the first time I worked with Chris 25 years ago he was always friendly, respectful, appreciative and as helpful to me as I ever was to him. Over the years he became much more than a great customer. He was very much a good friend. He was always upbeat and loved to talk about our similar and shared experiences in the tile world. Also always enjoyed discussing his wonderful family and grandkids. The world will most certainly never be the same without him. We love ya Chris!!
