Christopher Shaughnessy Obituary
Chris' life goal was to make our world a better place to live. He earned his BS from UT-Austin, MS from U of Wisconsin-Madison and PhD from UT-Austin, all in Chemical Engineering. His interest in chemistry began early with a chemistry set for Christmas and bloomed during his 30-year career at Exxon Research Center in Houston. He achieved numerous publications, patents and awards. Chris' passions were helping advance engineering education, learning world history, and spending time with his family.
Chris is survived by his loving wife Fran, daughter Monica Shaughnessy (Gary Zupke) and granddaughter Fiona. He is also survived by stepdaughters Bridget (Richard Foust) and Nicole Hurley (Austin Leonard) and step-granddaughter Ava. Chris will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Chris M. Shaughnessy Endowed Excellence Fund in Chemical Engineering at UT-Austin.
