Dearest Dwayne, Deric, Denis, Guylaine, Alexa, Spencer and all the Rahal family. Over the past many years we have had the wonderful opportunity to exchange on many occasions with your dear Mother (Grandmother) Claire. My dearest cousins and brothers in Christ - If ever she was around when I dropped in to say 'hi', she would always tell you boys "your sister is here", to which you would reply "Ma, we have no sisters, there are just the 3 of us boys", then she'd try to swat you on the ear and remind you that because your father, Uncle Dick was my and Gail's God-father, that we were considered automatically your sisters. Well, that was many years ago and just one of the many fond memories I have of my sweet Auntie Claire. That story came to mind because of Easter and the resurection of our Lord. Know that your mother is with your father and actually, there are quite a few of the loved ones, including my dad, who have passed on - all sitting at the right hand of our father in heaven, feeling no pain and no suffering..........probablly playing cards! I love you all and will see you at the funeral, my deepest sympathies to all of you sanadees, cousin Joyanne Johnson (Saray) and family.

Dear Cousins, I am sorry that I can not be with you these days. I know that you all will miss Mom a great deal. It is a time of adjustment and reflection. When the spirit is weary and wants to leave the body, many health challenges arise. I think that Aunt Claire was witness to this during the prior months. She will be greeted with delight by those other family members who have recently passed and await her arrival with them. Blessings to you all. I look forward to the time we can share at a later date which will be filled with laughter and memories of joyful times with Aunt Claire. Much Love to you all.

Dear Cousins,
I was sadden when Kamal informed me that Claire has passed away. Claire never forgot my birthday. I was fortunate in that I was able to see Richard and Claire when they vacationed in Florida and reunions. I have always missed Richard because he brought friendship, humor and happeness to me when I was a kid. My father was always too serious. Claire carried these attributes also in the past years. I hope we will always carry the torch that Richard and Claire have brought to us through the reunions. Nick Rahal and Family

Dear Dwayne and all the Family, We were so saddened to hear of the death of our dear cousin, Claire. She was truly the heartbeat of the Family. She took such joy in the family, remembering our every birthday and anniversary with a phone call to wish us happiness and to remind us that we were dearly loved by her. How could we forget! When we were together at the 1978 Reunion in Montreal, what sticks with me to this day was her beautiful red hair, her incredible warmth and hospitality, and her wonderful cooking. After all the Reunion-planned events she invited a bunch of us to her home for food! What a feast it was! She had such a generous spirit. When she came to the first Washington Reunion she brought with her a beautiful crocheted table cloth for us. We still think of her when we use it. I'm so glad we were able to visit her in her Florida home a few years ago. At that time, she told us she "went to church every Sunday," and then she showed us a video tape of an Orthodox worship service which she played on Sunday mornings. She had a deep and abiding faith in the Lord. With all this she had a quick and fun-loving sense of humor, always ready with a cute comment to make us laugh. What a joy! She will be greatly missed by all of us. Now she will live through her children and grandchildren who are very much a part of her. I'm sure that God prepared a wonderful place for her in his home, and that she is exceedingly happy there. We all rejoice in her influence on our lives, and the joy she brought to us while she was with us. May God grant us comfort in that knowledge. Love, Betty and Kamal

Dearest Canadian Cousins,
We're so saddened to hear of Aunt Claire's passing. She was always so dear to us, and it was our loss to have only been able to spend a few days with her every year or two. Nevertheless she always loved us like we were her own chlldren and grand children. Even in her last days when she could not always remember our names, her joyful spirit and love were so evident. We will miss her dearly but will cherish the memories in our hearts. Love to you all from Greg, Michelle and the rest of the Washington Rahals.
