Claire Rogers Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Nov. 1 to Nov. 5, 2023.
Claire passed away after a ten-year battle with breast cancer. She was 65.

Growing up in Black Forest, Colorado, Claire's passion was horses and riding was a daily activity. A graduate of Air Academy High School in Colorado Springs, Colorado and Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado, she worked summers while in college at Grouse Creek Livery located at Dowd Junction, Colorado where she met and later married her favorite cowboy Chris Shoales. They moved to the Vail area and Claire held a number of accounting positions. She ended her career after many years with McKay & Associates where she enjoyed working with so many wonderful clients. After retiring, she was blessed to spend time with and care for her parents in their last years. She was also able to indulge her love of travel and she and Chris took many trips all over the world. Visiting famous sites including the Great Wall of China, Macchu Piccu, Tiger Temple in Bhutan and the Galapogos Islands as well as experiencing different cultures was an incredible and cherished experience.

Claire lived each day with gratitude for the many blessings in her life including a wonderful and supportive family, many amazing friends with their kind words and offers of help, Suzi with her healing hands, companion animals extraordinaire Lucy and Brandy, the caring and competent staff of the Shaw Cancer Center of Vail, the Valley View Hospital of Glenwood Springs, and her incredible best friend and husband Chris who brought love, joy and laughter to each day.

Claire's life will be celebrated in a Mass to be held at St Mary's Church in Eagle Colorado on 11 December 2023 at noon.

In lieu of flowers, you may remember Claire by hugging a loved one, scratching the ears of your favorite furry critter, and by giving to the Shaw Cancer Center of Vail, the Valley View Hospital of Glenwood Springs, or the charity of your choice.
