Clara Jean Padgett

Clara Jean Padgett, 84, of Rising Sun, IN, passed away at 11:05 AM, Friday, March 31st, 2017 at The Waters of Rising Sun. Clara was born in Bicknell, IN on October 19, 1932, a daughter of the late Esther (Sandefur) and Everett Boyles. She was a graduate of Bicknell High School, Class of 1951. She was the widow of Rev. Donald Ray Padgett. They were married on August 1st, 1953. Clara and Donald were married 52 years until his passing on October 10, 2005. Clara was a member of Rising Sun Nazarene Church where her husband, Donald was former Pastor. Clara's life revolved around her family and church. She performed many duties at the church and helped whenever she could. Clara was involved with bible school, NYPS, Sunday school, church board and anywhere else she was needed. Clara is survived by a daughter, Susan Taylor (Myron), of Anderson, IN; by a son, Michael Padgett (Konna), of Rising Sun, IN; by grandchildren: Troy, Lauramary, Matthew, Cathy, Abby, Amos & Austin. She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband, Donald, by a son, Paul Padgett in 1983, by a daughter, Cathy Slack in 2007, by brothers, James, Hubert & Lee Boyles and by sisters, Margeurite Mattingly, Lucy Sampson & Helen Myers. Funeral services will be 11 AM, Monday, April 3rd at the Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN with Rev. Jim Jenkins officiating. Friends are invited to call Sunday 5-7 PM at Markland Funeral Home. Burial will be at Rising Sun New Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Mike Padgett Scholarship Fund through the Ohio County Community Foundation (checks payable to OCCF).
