Clarence Jacob Eck MATTHEWS, NC Clarence Jacob Eck passed away on Nov. 25, 2017 at his home. He was 87 years old. He was born in Phillipsburg, NJ, on Dec 12, 1929 to Charles Eck and Helen Schwork Eck. Clarence graduated from Phillipsburg High School in 1947. He enlisted in the United States Marines and served for over four years as a staff sergeant in the Korean War. He attended Churchman's Business College, where he received a degree in accounting. He married Dolores Helen Stecker Eck on Aug. 29, 1963. After graduating from college, he was employed by Regal Paper Company in the accounting department. In 1964, he was promoted to the accounting manager of two plants in Georgia. In December 1966, he was transferred to the Charlotte office of Regal Paper Company, which later became the corporate office. He then served as corporate accountant. The company was later sold and the name changed to Rexham and then Rexam. Clarence had a tenure of 40 years with the company. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Charlotte, NC, and also of both the Lutheran Brotherhood and the Joy Fellowship club. He also was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 52 of Phillipsburg, NJ; Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Warren County, NJ; Forest No. 14 of New Jersey, and Oasis Shriners of Charlotte, NC. He was also a charter member of the Sardis Swim and Racquet Club. He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Robert (Rob) Charles Eck; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Eck, and his brother, Robert Charles Eck. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Dolores (Del) Stecker Eck; a sister, Linda Ashbey of Manchester, NJ, and his sister-in-law, Dolores Eck of Easton, PA, as well as several wonderful and loving nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, Dec. 2 at 2 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 4519 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC 28226. Friends will be greeted after the services in the Fellowship Hall. A graveside service will follow at Forest Lawn East Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Rob Eck Scholarship Fund, c/o Providence Day School, 5800 Sardis Road, Charlotte NC 28270, or the Christ Lutheran Hand Bell Fund, c/o Christ Lutheran Church, 4519 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC 28226. Del -we were so sorry to hear of Clarence passing away . I have many great memories of Clarence . One in particular was when I went to the Rexam office to tell Steve I was pregnant with our first child and Clarence was first person I saw and told and he pulled steve out of a meeting for me. I will keep all of you in my prayers .

I did not know you personally, however I would very much like to "Thank You" for your dedicated and honorable Military Service to OUR country.
