Obituary
Guest Book
On August 3, 1968, our beloved son, brother, father, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, friend, barber, Clarence Edgar Oliver, was born to his parents, Clarence and Ora Lewis Oliver. He left a legacy of his love of God, family and laughter when God called him to his eternal rest on the morning of July 25, 2022.
Edgar as he is known by his family, was a graduate of Hermitage High School. He loved drafting and drawing blueprints. He began his college career at Hampton University studying architecture and was able to boast several pieces of art shown in the Hampton Art Museum. Edgar transferred to Virginia State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Architecture.
Edgar accepted Christ at a very young age, joining Mount Olive Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Wendell Johnson, where he worshipped with family for years. Although he loved drawing and drafting, barbering was his passion. He became affectionately known as Ollie when he began working with his father at Supreme Hairstyling Lounge. He honed his craft and became a master barber working alongside his dad. He also put his drawing and drafting skills to use by designing the Supreme logo and by designing the layout of the boutiques on Grace Street. At "Supreme" Ollie could be himself. He was so comical and outspoken. He kept you laughing while providing a much-needed service, friendship and advice, the only way a master barber could. From your baby's first haircut to 30 years of consistent service and every milestone in between, Ollie's chair was the place to be. He made the shop feel like a family.
Ollie loved football (go Cowboys!!!), fishing and travel. He was loving and devoted father. He enjoyed spending time with Lauren, Evan, Victor, and LaGora, other family members and friends. Ollie also loved cooking, grilling/smoking foods and coordinating flavorful meals. He had an entrepreneurial spirit and started "Two Brothers Smoking", with his brother Victor in 2020.
Clarence Edgar Oliver was preceded in death by his oldest son, Alexander Amir Oliver. He leaves to cherish is memory two children Lauren Alexis Oliver and Evan Alexander Oliver; his dedicated parents Clarence and Ora Lewis Oliver; his siblings Victor (Sheryl) Lewis Oliver, LaGora (Kevin) Oliver Brooks; nephew Brandon Briggs; nieces Ashanti Anderson-Oliver, Kyler Victoria Oliver, Korinne Amir Brooks, Katelyn Alyse Brooks; several loving aunts and uncles, a host of cousins, childhood friends and a devoted friend.

Good Evening Beloved Family and Friends Of The Beautiful inside and out Mr. Clarence E. Oliver - One of the Lords Angles he decided to call home to glory. Not only was he my fantastic barber but, he was a dear friend to me as well. I enjoyed sitting in his barber chair just having great, everyday, real conversations about life and other things. We would have such fun laughing. I loved how he was such a family man & always speaking kind words about his family and how he looked up to his mom and dad. He also spoke about how blessed it is to have a good group of guys that he considered to be like brothers working in the shop alongside him. Ollie was such a nice man and his smile will forever be with me. May our Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ continue to be with us today as he is always - Amen. Ms. Bennett.

Oh my, how much I am going to miss seeing you weekly in the shop. I was always guaranteed a good, gut busting laugh with you from time to time. Many times you would have me in tears. Thank you and Mr. Oliver for the warm welcome that you give and gave to the many women that crossed the shop's doorstep. Thank you for making us feel right at home. Lastly, thank you for taking care of me when James was out. Rest my friend. I am going to truly miss you.

To a person whom I considered a brother: Its difficult to be on here writing a farewell. You watched me grow from a teenager to an adult. Whom can I call or text now to laugh hard with. Not to mention argue with because you’re late coming to the shop. We use to collect all the Gotcha! papers, large black coffee runs & breakfast sandwiches and Lee’s Chicken combos. When I didn’t feel like doing it, you’d ask if I had coffee at home.
I can go on and on but you were ALWAYS a phone call away when needed. Especially for those last minute haircuts for my boys. You will truly be missed!
To the family, may you find healing during this difficult time.

Mr. Ollie you will be missed for sure. My family and I made sure that every time we enter and depart the shop we made sure we said "hello" and waved or said "goodbye"! You would always respond with a wave and a "see y'all later". Rest in peace, Mr. Ollie!

I met Clarence Edgar “Ollie” Oliver Jr in October 2017 at Supreme Hairstyling Lounge in Jackson Ward, where he worked side by side with his dad Clarence Oliver Sr.
He introduced himself as “Ollie”, it was around 6:30 am and he already had clients.
I was about to interview the Late Debo Dabney for my CBS 6 Saturday Morning Live segment, it was drizzling so I asked if we could take cover under the shop's canopy. Ollie obliged and extended his hospitality to us.
During takes, I questioned him about cutting my hair, since I only saw men in the shop he said, let me know what you think, I would go back several times during my short hair phase and even recommend him to others.
Today, on his birthday, “Ollie” will be laid to rest! My deepest condolences to his loving family and his work family. May his memories ease some of your pain. Rest well, Ollie!

WOW!!! This is still unbelievable. So many good memories I have, they will always be at my heart. Ollie you gave my son Cam his first hair cut at the age of 2. Cam wanted no one but "Mr. Ollie" to cut his hair. And no one else in 13 years has cut his hair but YOU. All the stories and jokes you told were hilarious. All the advice you gave was much appreciated. To my dear friend Ollie, you will be missed.

Ollie was not only my barber.... He was a big brother, friend, counselor, comedian, and the best barber EVER. The men would see me and start running in the shop
to beat me to get in line, because if they were behind me in line they knew they had to wait. Wait while Ollie gave me the utmost service and take his time on his next creation. I have traveled some and wherever I went, I had people and other barbers compliment his work on my head. Im a woman and he was always polite and a complete gentleman. He always spoke about his kids and how proud he was of them. My heart truly hurts over this loss and he will be deeply missed. I have many great laughs and memories with him and they will be cherished. REST IN HEAVEN love you Ollie

This is still a shocker that you are gone. My son and I just got our cuts that Friday and can’t believe that would be the last time we see each other. You were such a good person to us and someone I can say I had in my corner. Thank you for being a good barber and being a good friend as well. We had some good times hanging out. You will truly be missed. RIP Ollie from Stanka
