NEWPORT NEWS - Claretta Parker Meredith, 70, died Thursday, July 7, 2005, at Riverside Regional Medical Center. After a long illness and fulfilled life, Claretta has returned to the sources of pure love in our heavenly Father's home. She leaves to cherish her memories five sons, Leon, Calvin, Douglas and Irvin, all of Newport News, Va., and Lewis of Richmond, Va.; four daughters, Yvonne, Diane, Carolyn and Mary, all of Newport News; 20 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Herbert Parker of Richmond; a host of other relatives and many dear friends. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, at Miracle Temple Baptist Church, 617 - 32nd St., Newport News. The family will receive guests from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. The Parker-Meredith family is receiving services of comfort from Nicholson-Cummings Funeral Home, 4304 Victoria Blvd., Hampton. (757) 728-0122 www.nicholson-cummings.com.
