Clark Wesley Walker, age 82, of Old Fort, NC, went to be with the Lord Saturday, July 4, 2015 at Mountain Ridge Health & Rehab, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born October 7, 1932 in McDowell County, NC to the late A.R. "Bart" Walker and Hettie Burgin Walker. Mr. Walker worked for McDowell County Schools as a Teacher until his retirement in 1982. He was a member of East Marion Methodist Church and was a Gideon. Some of his hobbies included reading, bird watching and learning about birds, fishing and being outdoors, watching old westerns and watching any NC State sporting events.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Walker is also preceded in death by four brothers, Walter Williams, Jimmy Walker, Hubert Walker and Albert Robert Walker, Jr. and one sister, Evelyn Aldridge.

Surviving Mr. Walker are his wife of 58 years, Jewel Alice Angel Walker of the home; one son, Michael Walker and partner, Jim of Deltona, FL; two daughters, Donna Jhant of Old Fort, NC and Debbie Braswell of Marion, NC; two grandchildren, Kyle Jhant of Sanford, FL and Erica Braswell of Marion, NC; two sisters, Dorothy Roberts and husband, Robbie of Biloxi, MS and Virginia Tankersley of Old Fort, NC; three sisters-in-law, Barbara Walker of Old Fort, NC, Polly Wilhelm and husband, Ray of Statesville, NC and Phyllis Leopard and husband, Frank of Pontiac, MI.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at Kirksey Funeral Chapel in Old Fort, NC. Burial will follow at Cherry Springs Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Hospice of McDowell County – 575 Airport Rd. Marion, NC 28752.

I remember Mr Walker from school & at least one summer he worked with us at Clinchfield Mill during break. I think he really enjoyed that. He was a great guy, a hard worker & a delight to be around.
