Claude Boileau Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 11, 2025.
Claude Louis Boileau, 91, of North Haven, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 2, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Patricia Beisler Boileau. Born on December 2, 1933, in Montreal, Québec, Canada, he was the son of the late Paul and Pierrette Boileau.

Claude's passion for hockey began in his youth and led him to Connecticut in 1954, where he played for the New Haven Blades for eight seasons. He was the "B" on the famous "CBS" line alongside Yvan Chasle and John Sherban during the Blades' 1955-56 championship season. He later played three seasons with the Long Island Ducks, winning another championship in his final season in 1964-65. His love for the game extended beyond his playing years as he dedicated himself to coaching and mentoring countless players, including his own sons.

Beyond hockey, Claude was the owner of Claude Boileau Drywall until his retirement. He was an avid golfer and held a membership at the Wallingford Country Club. Another favorite hobby of Claude's was spending time with his grandchildren. He spent countless hours playing in the pool, attending sporting events, passing on his extensive wisdom that was always paired with a joke and an unforgettable laugh, and he never missed a chance to tag along on a family vacation where the greatest memories are made. Above all else, he will be remembered as a devoted family man whose love for his wife, children, and grandchildren was unparalleled.

Claude is survived by his children Marc, Michael, Danielle, and Nicole. He was predeceased by his son Paul, as well as his brother Michel Boileau and sister Pauline Boileau.

A Mass to honor Claude will be held on April 5 at 8:00 a.m. at St. Bernadette Church on Townsend Avenue in New Haven.

Claude's legacy lives on through the many lives he touched both on and off the ice.

Dear Boileau Family, please accept my sincere condolences regarding the passing of Claude. As a hockey coach, there was none better . He was incredibly passionate about the game of hockey. He brought the most out of his players and I learned so much from him. I absolutely loved playing for him. I still have my '74/'75 C. Cowles team picture and my team jacket from when Claude(and the late Ted Shay) led us to a Division II State Championship. Thank you, and Rest in Peace, Coach.

Claude was my father's best friend and like an Uncle to me. His quick wit and infectious laugh would always put a smile on my face.

I pray that he has been reunited with my father in heaven, stirring things up as usual.

My condolences to Pat and the family. His legacy will never be forgotten.
