Without a doubt, I owe my career to Claude's mentoring and friendship.. From the early days of watching him operate when I was just 15, to helping me pick the right med school and residency to become an otologist like him..and then sponsoring me for the Triological and Otological societies..Of course, Claude will be forever known for the incus interposition procedure, a brilliantly conceived technique that revolutionized ear surgery and is still the standard 50 years later.. My thoughts are with you Kay..

Kay, I'm sure you don't remember me, but I remember you well. Dr. Pennington not only saved my life in 1961, but gave me the opportunity to go to nursing school. I'm sorry I didn't contact him before he died to say thank you for giving me the life I have today. I will always love him. Lovingly, Linda Pettey Lander (Hawkinsville, GA - Macon Hospital School of Nursing class of 1965)

Kay, Eve and Lee,
I am so sorry for your loss. I was out of town yesterday and couldn't come to the funeral. Please know you are all in my prayers.
This is a poem I found and I hope you like it.
Up in Heaven a Father waits
Watching over his beloved family from Heaven's Gate.
His family's life he will follow
Embracing evermore from his new Heavenly home.
Patiently enjoying his children's life unfold,
Til in Heaven all will be rejoined.
What for the children may seem forever
Is for the Father only brief.
Since Heaven's time is not as our own.
He is for all time with you, throughout and after your grief.
So, close your eyes and say a prayer – Your Daddy is so near,
Forever and always in your Heart.

Claude was a dear friend and mentor to me, and I am deeply saddened by his passing. He was an outstanding physician and surgeon and a true leader in the field of Otolaryngology. I shall remember his keen intelligence and fine sense of humor; he was a joy to be with. May Kay and family find peace in comfort in the days ahead. My prayers for Claude and to all.

Kay,
I just wish to extend my sympathies. Claude was a physician to me and I was fortunate to become a colleague of his later. He was always so committed to whatever he set his mind, but I felt nothing ever surpassed his commitment to his patients.
