Dear Family of Hope (Thompson) Waite Sorrell,
I just received the notice of Hope's death after checking an e-mail from my Vicksburg Greenie class 1964. I am deeply sorry for you all for I share your loss since my mother recently died of Cancer. When one is younger (at our age we still feel young), we sometimes don't think that it could be us...just yet...because we have so much more living to do and judging by the "picture gallery", Hope did just that. I recognized Lake Claiborne in many of the slides and know all those special memories will be with you until you also join Hope in her mansion in heaven. God only knows our time, but what rejoicing and laughter there is with Hope there joining her parents and friends that have gone before. I remember her big smile and personality. She could light up the room. Hope and I were high school Biology partners and friends back then. Our teacher Mr. Kuhnert placed me between Hope and Margaret Johnson, when I transfered from a different class. We three sat in front of his desk and I know that his motive was twofold...to keep an eye on me and help me with my grade by placing me between two excellent students. I thanked him for that many times over (made a B). I understand why she became a teacher. Also, I remember that she told me that the band director had to cease practice while my car (loud mufflers) passed the band practice hall on my way to football practice...didn't know. (I'm sorry that I'm so long winded, but it did say share memories.)
Now is the time for mourning, but know that God had a special place reserved for Hope and, if she did have any pain or suffering, she is free of all that now and delivered into the Lord's care through Jesus Christ. John 14:2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
Praying that God will bless you during this hollow time when you miss her so,
Bob Murin (Seminary, MS)
