After Clay left our employer to become a teacher, I remember I was trying to establish a handicap and play in a men's league. I joined River Oaks golf club. I hadn't seen Clay for several years, but It just so happened that he ran the league and was the president at River Oaks. We reconnected then and for over 20 years played in different golf leagues together. The best times were after a 9-hole round, we sat down for a drink or two, and had long talks about family and life. Those times meant a lot to me .. we were always smiling, reminiscing about family and sports, and all the grandkids. He would tell me about the kids playing soccer and running track. He was so very proud of them. The best part of golf was the end when we spent time hanging out. I'll miss those times with Clay.

Clay was always so good to me ! I just keep thinking about the time we played in a golf tournament, and me, Jesse and Jerry were laughing and kidding around, having the best time with Clay. At the end, he turned to me in front of the guys and said, "this is the best time I've had playing in a tournament in a long time!" I felt great as I wasn't the best player, but he always stuck up for me and my terrible shots! Jesse told me he always looked forward to.playing in tournaments with us. I'm really going to.miss him. Prayers, support and love to you all .. Your dad was a true friend and we loved him very much.

In 1986, we moved here from California to work at Salt Lake Circuits. I remembered Clay didn't really care for Californians coming in and working in the job, but when he got to know me better and I let him know I was born in Texas, things changed for the better. This was the start of a lifetime friendship. We had a lot of great times! He will be missed. We send love and prayers to all of the family. Your Dad was really proud of you girls and all you accomplished. He told us so many wonderful things about you all!
