Clayton James Osborne RICHLANDS, Va. Mr. Clayton James Osborne, age 86, passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at Maple Grove Health Care Center following an extended illness. He was born on Aug. 28, 1923, in McDowell County, W.Va., to the late John and Etta Osborne. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Hermon Osborne, Morris Osborne, and Glen Osborne; and one sister, Iva Marie Davis. Mr. Osborne was a U.S. Navy Veteran, having served in WW II and Korean War. He retired in 1982 after 30 years with U.S. Steel in the coal mines and was a member of the U.M.W.A. Mr. Osborne is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mrs. Edith Ball Osborne; six children, Jimmy C. Osborne and wife, Ledena, of Abingdon, Va., Ronald E. Osborne and wife, Marcella, of Hoover, Ala., Richard D. Osborne and wife, Phyllis, of Bristol Virginia, Susan C. Hess and husband, Gerald, of Lebanon, Va., Dianna L. Collins and husband, David, of Pounding Mill, Va., and Bryant K. Osborne and wife, Linda, of Pounding Mill; seven grandchildren, Erica, Brandon, Jeff, Jason, Matthew, Patrick, and Josh; five great-grandchildren, Aiden, Jackson, Grace, Justin and Joshua; five sisters, Geneva Barnes of Charlotte, N.C., Catherine Tiaina of Tampa, Fla., Ruby Blanchard of Trenton, Fla., Betty Durham of Springhill, Fla., and Ruth Snow of Homosassa, Fla.; two brothers, John Osborne of Christiansburg, Va., and Thomas Osborne of Callao, Va.; and many nieces and nephews also survive. Graveside services will be conducted at 12:00 noon Saturday, June 26, 2010, with the Rev. Sam Altizer officiating at the Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Claypool Hill, Va. Pallbearers will be Jeff Osborne, Jason Osborne, Matthew Osborne, Patrick Osborne, Brandon Osborne, Josh Collins and Brad Hess. Military graveside rites will be conducted by Casey-Shortt VFW Post 9640. Those attending the graveside service are asked to meet at the mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Singleton Funeral Service at Cedar Bluff, Va. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O.
