Clayton L. Pierce

ORLAND - Clayton L. Pierce husband of Joanne (Marks) Pierce passed away June 6, 2016 at a local health care facility. Clayton was born in Orland on July 5, 1934 son of Eloise (Furlong) and Elwin "Bill" Pierce.

He was one of the early members of the Orland Volunteer Fire Dept. Clayton served in the U.S. Army from 1958-1960. He was a past Player Agent of the Bucksport Little League. Clayton loved duck hunting and deer hunting and also spent time fishing. He worked at the paper mill in Bucksport retiring in 1992.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joanne; his sister-in-law Leila and her husband Ralph Burgess and their son David, his wife Linda and their son Justin Burgess; his nieces and nephews Donalyn Pierce, Joyce (Pierce) Rogerson, Shelley Pierce, Matt, Michelle and Chase Pierce, Melissa (Pierce) and Michael Osborne, Kim, Chris and Zoey McGinty, Lucas Rogerson and daughter Bailey, Josh Gray, Kasey Gray and son Theo.

He was predeceased by his parents; his brother Donald and his wife Marilyn; his brother, Robert; his niece, Barbara (Pierce) Gray; and nephew, Donald Pierce Jr.

Very special thanks to the wonderful and caring Physical Therapists, RN's, and CNA's at the Brewer Health and Rehabilitiation where he received outstanding care. Also thanks to Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, Pastor Peter Remick and Beacon Hospice.

Family and friends will gather for visitation at 12 noon on Sunday June 12, 2016 until time of service at 1p.m. at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home 28 Elm Street Bucksport. Burial will follow the service at Oak Grove Cemetery, Orland. (mitchelltweedie-young.com)
