Clifford J. Burger, 93, of Unionville, Iowa, died on Thursday, March 25, 2010 at Crestridge Nursing Home in Maquoketa. He was born the son of John and Minnie (Miles) Burger on Dec, 10, 1916 near Udell. He graduated from Udell High School. Clifford was a member of Fairview Church of the Brethren.
He was united in marriage to Leona Starks in 1940 and then divorced and later married Evelyn (Ward) Adams in 1955. He farmed near Unionville, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; second wife Evelyn (Ward) Burger; and brother, Merle Burger.
He is survived by: sons, Steve and his wife, Karen Burger of Moravia and Joe Burger of Cincinnati; daughter, Virginia and her husband, Dick Dale of Bella Vista, Ark.; step-son, Bill and his wife, Karen Burger of Unionville, Iowa; step daughters, Carol Kudson of Wheatland and Yovan Maxwell of Bloomfield; brothers, Vernon Burger of Centerville and Richard Burger of Moravia; sister, Melba Paris of Sandy Springs, Maryland; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established to The Christian Motorcycle Association and can be left at or mailed to the funeral home. The Schmidt Family Funeral Home of Centerville is caring for Clifford and his family and condolences can be sent to schmidtfamilyfuneralhome.com.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 30 at 10:30 a.m. at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville with the Rev. John VanWeldon officiating. Burial will be held in the Fairview Cemetery south of Unionville, Iowa. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
