Clifford R. “Rick� Davis., age 62, of North Charleston SC died peacefully at home surrounded by family on Friday, December 11th 2009. He was born on July 5th 1947 in Elmira NY. Cliff was a decorated military man who faced his illness of pancreatic cancer with “grit and grace.� He as a recipient of 4 Purple Hearts and a paralyzed veteran. He dedicated his time to others through volunteerism, including The Military Order of the Purple Heart. He served his country in the United States Air Force and retired as a Medical Service Supervisor. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a member and Past Master of Franklin Masonic Lodge # 96, Scottish Rite, KCCH, York Rite, York Rite College, Red Cross, Sojourners, Knight Mason, Order of the Amaranth, and Omar Shriners. Cliff is survived by his wife: Cheryl “Sherie� Davis of North Charleston SC; daughters: Buffy Heslin (James) of Newport News VA, and Debra Davis of FL; Mother: Juanita Springstead (George) of Elmira Heights NY; father Clifford N. Davis (Marilynn) of Lawrenceville PA; sister: Mary K. Springstead (Edward) of Lowman NY; brother: Gary Davis of Millerton PA; uncle: Donald R. Stamp of Elmira NY; great uncle: Richard Stamp of Elmira NY; niece: Gina Thorne of Saipan; nephews: Kyle Thorne, and Kendal Thorne; sister-in-law: Kathleen Thorne. Funeral will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 16th 2009 at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston SC 29406. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park, 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston SC 29406. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, December 15th 2009. The family is gratefully accepting floral tributes, or memorials may be made in Clifford Davis’ honor to the Scottish Rite Learning Center, Scottish Rite Temple, P.O. Box 30817, 1051 Sam Rittenberg Blvd. Charleston, SC 29417-0817 FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS HAVE BEEN ENTRUSTED TO THE CARE OF CAROLINA MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, NORTH CHARLESTON.
