Clifford J. Young, 72, Armagh, died May 10, 2004, at Memorial Medical Center. Born Sept. 16, 1931, in Tire Hill, he was the son of the late William and Mildred (Riffle) Young. Cliff served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954. He was a member of DAV Chapter 2, Johnstown; District 5 DAV and DAV State Department of Pennsylvania, and was a charter member of VFW Post 4200, Johnstown. He was also a member of the Pacesetter Golf League, Wednesday Afternoon Retired Men's Bowling League at Zips, Roper's View Horseshoe Club and Tide Sportsman's Club. He enjoyed many years of playing softball in various Johnstown leagues, and also enjoyed hunting and supporting his grandchildren in all of their activities. He was known for his magic tricks and tomato garden. He was retired from Bethlehem Steel Corp., Johnstown Plant. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, the former Audrey Duncan; children, Debbie, wife of Daniel Boring, Blairsville; Beverly "Sis" Clem, Ferndale; Clifford Jr. "Skip," Lafayette, La.; Vicki, wife of Alan Hollingsworth, Seward; and Tari, wife of Thomas Douglass, Brush Valley; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by twin infant children; a brother, William; and sisters, Mildred Eash and Bettie Hynes. Friends wil be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Stuart Funeral Home, Armagh, where a service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, layman Wayne Waugh officiating. Interment will be held in Armagh Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by local veterans organizations.
