Clyde Earl Pickens Jr, aged 71, of Lucerne, Indiana, born to the late Clyde and Shirley Pickens on December 18, 1952, passed away on March 20, 2024, in Oxford, Indiana. He was a devoted husband of 18 years to Veronica and a loving father to Ryan Pickens, Elizabeth Belisle, Emily Dodson, Erica Tyson, Angeleena Pickens, Daphney Pickens, and William Pickens. Clyde was also cherished by his grandchildren, Austin, Cameron, Brett, Danaira, Dakota, Devahn, Ryker, Owen, Vallen, Rhaina and several great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are 4 sisters, Cathy March, Becky Ruff, Stephanie Weaver, Melissa Reynoso, and 3 brothers, Tim Pickens, Dan Pickens, Scot Pickens.
Preceeded in death by 1 sister, Lori Arzola, 1 brother, Steve Pickens, a daughter Amber Mae Pickens

Clyde served in the Army for 21 years, retiring as an E 7. His military career included notable moments, such as his time in Germany. During war games he captured and hog tyed his Sergeant Major to the front of his jeep. After his military career Clyde worked in the engine plant, working in edm and ipc at SIA, retiring after 21 years. After retirement Clyde became very active in the Oxford Lions Club and AMVets post 102 in Fowler, he was also active in BSA scouts. Clyde also worked diligently bettering his community.

He was a member of the Fowler United Methodist Church and found joy in gardening, building things, and watching homesteader videos. Clyde's hobbies also included playing Sim City on his collection of "100" tablets and cell phones.

In his free time, Clyde could often be found on his little farm, tending to his garden, planting trees and flowers feeding the chickens and rabbits, or sitting on the swing with his beloved wife, Veronica. He took pride in his family, especially in the accomplishments of his children.
Clyde always said, "God first, wife second, and my children third" and he lived it everyday.

Contributions in memory of Clyde can be made to the Lions Clubs, AMVETS Post 102. Gerts, Windler, & Keller in Fowler, Indiana, are assisting with the funeral arrangements.

Clyde Earl Pickens will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his service to his country, and his passion for gardening and storytelling. He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter that will be cherished by all who knew him.

What a great guy! Do anything for anyone. Our little stretch here won't be the same without seeing him out on his tractor "playing" in the spring and winter and fall. Gonna miss his smile and his hats. God bless Veronica and all the kids.

I meet I think 2 times but I live in texas don't get home much..I love my deuces and nephew..and am prayer for the I love yall..but the 2 times I did see him he was working in the yard

Thoughts and prayers for the family. I am Clyde Jr.s 1st cousin and we lost touch throughout the years but when I recently saw him at his mother's funeral..he was easy to spot and remember! I'm very sorry for your loss. Barb (Spencer Mathew)
