Clyde Smith Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 18, 2010.
Clyde Arthur Smith peacefully passed away on Thursday, November 18, 2010, in Port Arthur with his three loving daughters at his side.

Clyde was born on December 30, 1913, in Oronogo, Missouri to Ada Walker Smith and Arthur Smith. He had lived in Port Arthur since 1933 and was a member of the Church of Christ and was a faithful Christian man. Clyde was preceded in death by his loving wife of seventy years; Opal Faye Henson Smith who passed away in 2005. Survivors include his three devoted daughters, Jo Nell Jensen and her husband Bill of Nederland, Faye Stanley and her husband David of Lumberton and Carol Snapp and her husband Frank of Leander, Texas; brother, Al Smith of Shawnee, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Kristy Cleveland, Terry Stanley, Todd Snapp and Kelley Pittman; eleven great grandchildren, Kade Scott Stanley, Savannah Nicole Stanley, Colton Glenn Cleveland, Bradon Smith Cleveland, Andrew Graham Snapp, Brady Michael Snapp, Lucy Caroline Snapp, Jenna Elise Snapp, Franklin Arthur Pittman, Molly Clara Pittman and Gram Oliver Pittman.

It was my privilage to know C.A. the last year only in church services but attending as he did in his last years on earth in his advanced age was an inspiritation to all of us. Faye and family - Even though I really didn't know your dad, the few times I saw him at services with your family, he always seemed to be a friendly, happy man. I know you all will have fond memories to remind you of him and that you will certainly miss him. But you can know you did take great care of him these last few years and I know he appreciated it. Take care and know you have our deepest sympathy.

Carol, Faye, Jo Nell, and Family,

You have all been on my mind so much. Carol, your dad was an amazing man -- mowing the lawn and riding his bike till late in life. I didn't know him personally, but I do know that he raised some wonderful daughters. I know you have so many memories to cherish. I pray that those memories will bring many smiles to your face. Heaven is a little more crowded tonight now that he has gone home.
Sending all my love.

Jan

It was my pleasure to know Brother Smith. He was a kind, quiet and thoughtful man whose beaming smile warmed your heart.
He seemed to be always wondering how he could help fix something or do for others.
His youngest daughter Carol married my brother Frank and I was privilaged to visit with the Smith's from time to time over the years.
Brother Smith will be missed by all who knew him.
