Clyde Edward "Ted" Thomas

Thomas Clyde Edward "Ted" Thomas, 87, of Delaware, Ohio and formerly of Perry County, Ohio, passed away Monday morning, March 28, 2016 at the Sarah Moore Home in Delaware. He was born June 20, 1928 in Corning, Ohio to the late Clyde Richard Thomas and Fontelle Mae (Rodgers) Thomas and he graduated from Corning High School and then served his country as a member of the United States Army during World War II and prior to the Korean Conflict. He later attended Bliss College in Columbus for 3 years and retired from the United States Army and Ohio National Guard on June 20, 1988 as a Lieutenant Colonel. Ted retired from Jeffrey Manufacturing Company in Columbus after 40 years and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Delaware. He was also a member of the Eagles #463 and the American Legion Post #327 in Corning and the VFW Post #2806 in New Lexington. He was a lifetime member of the 37th Division Veterans Association. He loved serving his country, spending time with his family and traveling all over the United States for his work in the coal industry. He was also an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan. Left to cherish his memory is his son, John Richard (Patricia) Thomas of Delaware and his granddaughter, Gillian Thomas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother James Richard "Dick" Thomas and a sister Ruthann Thomas Newlon. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 from 5-8 p.m. at the SNYDER RODMAN FUNERAL CENTER, 1510 W. William Street at Valleyside Drive, Delaware and where a rosary prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 82 E. William Street, Delaware with Rev. Fr. Michael Watson officiating. Graveside service will then be held at 2 p.m. at the New Lexington Cemetery in New Lexington with the New Lexington VFW providing military honors at graveside.
