Duquette, Colleen M., Houghton Lake, Michigan, Formerly of Shields. Passed away Sunday, September 19, 2004, at her home. Age 76 years. Colleen M. McCarthy was born March 27, 1928 in Saginaw, the daughter of the late William P. and Grace (Elmendorf) McCarthy. She graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1945 and attended the Saginaw Business Institute. She married John (Jack) Duquette on May 23, 1953; he predeceased her November 28, 1985. She had been employed by the Saginaw County Sheriff Department for 71/2 years, and then by Saginaw Community Hospital for over 30 years until her retirement. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and of the American Business Women's Association. She enjoyed bowling. Colleen retired to her cottage in Houghton Lake. Surviving are one son, two daughters and their spouses, John V. and Constance (Schrems) Duquette, Shields; Mary and Timothy Rottiers, Birch Run; Karen Varney, West Branch; eight grandchildren, Ashley and Sarah Duquette, Brian and Michelle Rottiers, Travis, Jeremy (wife Robin), Michael and Lisa Varney; three great-grandsons, Bryan, Sean and Joshua; one brother, Dennis and his wife Lydia McCarthy; several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents she was predeceased by three brothers and one sister, William, Gerald and Joseph McCarthy and Elinor E. Tuck. Funeral Mass will take place 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 23, 2004 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1035 N. River Road. Rev. Fr. David Parsch will officiate with burial in St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends may call at the W.L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Rd. from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday where they may meet at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday for a parish vigil service. Friends and family may then call at the church from 9:00 a.m. Thursday until the time of funeral Mass. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the Seton Cancer Institute, c/o Saint Mary's Foundation.
