Collene Wengerd Ness Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 12, 2023.
Collene Lynette Wengerd Ness, 67, went to be with her Heavenly Father on June 22, 2023. She passed away at her home in Palmetto, FL. surrounded by family members and her partner of 35 years.

Born, along with her twin sister, on April 7, 1956 in LaGrange, IN. to Jacob M. and Sarah Marie Wengerd. The family moved to the Sarasota Bradenton area in 1958 where they have since resided.

After attending local elementary schools and Southeast High, Collene married and started a family. She began working in her dad's cabinet shop, mastering the woodworking skills and using them further throughout the years.

Somewhere, between raising a family and working, she found a little time for herself and discovered her love and talent for the game of Pool. She excelled in the game, joined teams and played tournaments both local and out of town landing a State and Regional Championships.

Eventually purchasing the old homestead, she transformed it into a business called "Sea Breeze Pottery" where she and Rodger began designing and installing fountains and selling pottery.

Things changed quickly when her 3 young granddaughters came to live with her. Putting everything else aside, they have been her priority for the last 20+ years.

Collene will be missed by all of us under one of these titles- Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Niece, Cousin, Partner & Friend-but our healing comes with knowing she is pain free and rejoicing with the ones gone on before.

Collene is survived by her Partner in Life, Rodger Berner, 2 Sons, Shane Ness & Tony Ness, 6 Grandchildren, Justin Ness, Chanelle Robinson, Bronson Ness, Jasmine Ness, Shayna Ness & Taylor Ness, 2 Sisters Cindy Weade & Carolyn Wills and preceded in death by a Sister, Audrey Wengerd & Parents Jacob M. & Sarah Marie Wengerd.

A Celebration of Life will be held at:

Ellwood Park Baptist Church

3516 - 45th St. E. Bradenton, Fl. 34208

Saturday, July 22, at 11:00 A.M.

I met Collene in 1987 she became a caring friend. Before a friend she trained me to be a laminator and she dedicated her time by showing me how to corrrectly do the process as she was taught. I hate time got away and know that my deepest heart felt sympathy goes out to family

I´ve known Colleen for over 40 years. My heart is broken. Her last words in a message was she loved me and her friends and she would see me on the other side. Yes Colleen, I will see you again.

It was an honor and a privilege to be Collene's friend and teammate for so many years. We had so much fun, laughing, kicking butt and taking names. The only all women's team to take first place Florida State championship- playing against men! Katies Ladies also took 6th-7th place in Las Vegas International VNEA Tournament against over 300 teams. Our opponents learned quickly that the beautiful, soft spoken little lady with the big smile was a fierce talented tigress with a pool cue. She was brave beyond words and I will miss her so much. I am grateful to have had a chance to reconnect and I will treasure the visits to my silly little parties and the Facebook chats. Collene, give Mag a big hug from me and I will see you Ladies again one day, we'll rack some balls again - like the old days. Love and miss you sweetheart. My sincere condolences to all her family, may the knowledge that so many share your loss bring you some comfort during this difficult time

Collene was one of my best friends in middle school and high school. We had a lot of shenanigans and fun together. Lost touch thru the years and reconnected on FB and hoped to meet up someday. It will be heaven now when we meet again. Prayers for her family.
