Conrad was instrumental in me starting my coaching career and taking me under his wing. Whether it was riding to the tournaments together or just a normal day at practice you could always count on his sense of humor and toughness. He was one of the most unique people I have ever met and taught me so much about wrestling. I will miss his laugh and free spirited personality. The days I coached with Conrad were some of the best of my life. Rest in peace my friend.

Just heard about Conrad's passing. He was a teammate of mine at Kent State University. He was lightning quick on his feet. If you blinked you missed his take down. I am so sorry for his loss. The world will shine less without him. David L. Herbert, Canton Ohio

Conrad, You made tough guys out of everyone who ever wrestled for you. Your ways we’re unconventional but effective. You took boys from all different backgrounds and made men. Some became state champs, some did not, nevertheless you made everyone better on the mat and in life. “ Thanks Coach “

I always felt just a little bit tougher with Conrad in my corner. I’m sure others can say the same, but he had a huge impact on my life and wrestling career. Rest In Peace coach!

Conrad or coach Calander was the one who believed in us but never took it easy on us and pushed us to the max. He was a great friend and will be missed.

My sincere sympathy to your family for the loss of Conrad. He was one of a kind. So sad to lose him so early in age and In his retirement years. I will always remember his smile, laugh and wit. He was bigger then life when he was in a room. Conrad spent much time with my my daughters when they were kids - Sara and Rachel. They have fond memories and good stories to remember him by. We are all saddened beyond words. He will be missed and we pray that he is at peace.

We met Conrad in 2001. He was one of the fantastic four whom Paul Ruston brought together to build our cottage in Sand Bay, a bit beyond the mouth of the Key River. Conrad brought a tremendous spirit and energy to the project, and we became, and remain, friends. In fact, it was Conrad who kept an eye on our place when we weren't there, reporting back anything he thought we should know. Then, over the years, we enjoyed his wit and observations on Friday evenings at Bill St. Clair's place (they were Connie and The Dude). Conrad was a wonderful person. Our whole family will miss him.
